Epicor IdP is a great feature - it just falls short for the Cloud user for access to the Education Database

Epicor has rolled out an amazing feature called Epicor ID, and let me tell you, it’s a game-changer! This nifty tool allows you to effortlessly navigate through all the different portals using IdP. Imagine smoothly transitioning between Live, Pilot, Third environments, and more, all with just one sign-in. It’s like having a master key to unlock all the doors to Epicor’s world, including the Learning Center, EpicCare, Epicor Ideas, and EpicWeb. Trust me, as someone who’s been in the Epicor universe for a while, this simplifies things tremendously, especially for newcomers.

And that’s not all! Let’s talk about the Epicor Education Database – it’s been an invaluable resource since 2008, aiding users in getting acquainted with the software and setting up essential tables for their businesses. But here’s the kicker: I recently had a bit of a hiccup when trying to utilize the Education database in my usual way. However, after a little back-and-forth with Epicor, they came through, addressing my concerns and even deploying the capability for blank passwords. Talk about customer dedication!

Now, while the Education environment has been a fantastic tool, I couldn’t help but notice a couple of areas for improvement. For instance, the user IDs starting with a company ID can be a bit tricky to remember. Wouldn’t it be great if we could use our Epicor IDs instead? Food for thought!

Speaking of enhancements, I recently suggested deploying a copy of the “public” Education database into the Third environment for a seamless user experience. Unfortunately, my request was met with some resistance. But fear not, I’m not one to give up easily! I firmly believe in advocating for what’s best for the user, and I’m hopeful that Epicor will consider incorporating this suggestion in the future. After all, striving for excellence and continuous improvement is what sets Epicor apart!

So, here’s to an even brighter, more seamless Epicor experience ahead. Cheers to innovation and collaboration!

I have followed the Epicor way to get a feature added, hopefully it will get enough votes to be noticed.

Frustrating that the Cloud team cannot load the Education database into the Third environment while on premise users can add it to an additional environment on their server. This is a policy driven by product management.
Maybe @timshuwy could explain the risks of doing this.

The third environment would allow the Education database to be “unlocked” and allow

  1. Advanced BAQ
  2. Simple User ID’s
  3. Solution workbench
  4. Ability to create RDD’s
  5. Ability to use IdP

Vote for the idea below.
