Epicor Ideas - New Process test with Feature Spotlights

We are hopefully going to be giving you faster and more transparent view of what is coming in the next release through an early release of Feature Spotlight Videos… please read on:

BACKGROUND:

  • For Kinetic 2024.1, we started something called “Feature Preview Videos” where we created a mini-training video for each new feature being added. These were made available to all employees, and to the customers/partners in the Controlled Release program. We WANTED to make them generally available, but as this was our first test case, we realized that they were not customer-friendly enough.
  • Starting in 2024.2, we optimized the process. We renamed the videos “Feature Spotlights”, and we created videos that were shorter, more customer-friendly. THIS time we DID publish each video onto the Epicor Learning site. ALL customers can see these videos. (if you havent taken the opportunity, please search for 2024.2 in the eLearning site… there are over 40 videos).

The concept is that each new feature should have its own new spotlight. BUT this got us thinking: “Why wait until 2025.1 is out? Why not publish the videos as soon as the feature is ready? Why not take a poll to make sure that we have hit the target BEFORE the release is complete”

SO… we are TESTING a new process (:safe_harbor: Safe Harbor… we will probably change how we are doing this in the future… process is still under dev :safe_harbor:)

Our CURRENT thought is that once we produce the video, we will send a link to everyone who VOTED or COMMENTED on the Epicor Idea that inspired the change. Everyone interested will have an opportunity to watch the video, respond to a POLL and give us feedback.

SO… This post is to “warn” you that you might be receiving such emails and if you do… please be our guinee pigs and watch the video and respond to the poll… we will be optimizing as we go…
We started our first test last night, and our early results are promising:

(note… for those that are Controlled Release Participants, we are not planning on changing what we did last release. BUT thanks to all of you, your participation and suggestion for “earler publication” inspired this additional broadcast of the feature spotlights.)
Thank you

I saw that feature pop up on yesterday’s webinar. Looking forward to using it or seeing it in action at insights!

I think this is a great idea and should lead to Epicor getting user feedback earlier in the cycle where it can still be actioned vs. CR where its basically too late for anything but bug fixes.

Totally agree that this as a great idea and enables early feedback from users on new features :100:
