We currently have a third party that do our hosting but we are planning to switch that up. We know Epicor does hosting but it is costly so since we do not have a lot of traffic on our site.
Have anyone host your Magento on-prem before? If so, is there a pros and cons?
I have been part of a few ECC projects, I believe the product is only sold as a cloud solution hosted by Epicor. They made this change to better support customer implementations.
The ECC team is great, reach out to your cam and connect the ECC team and Silk.
If your company has the depth, you can run your own instance of Magento 2 (locally hosted on-premise, or at a non-Epicor web provider), and integrate it manually with Epicor instead (like any other website/shopping cart solution). Obviously it wouldn’t be a straight forward as using the built-in integrations with the ECC option, but it’s doable.
@askulte is correct, you ca do this if you have the inhouse talent. I will add the time to deploy using ECC is only a few months including the web design and preparing product data for the site. For an off the shelf ecommerce integration with Epicor, ECC is great if you don’t want to build your own.
