Epicor Commerce

E10’s new option: Epicor Commerce Connect is a magento plug-in. It would resolve most, if not all, of these issues. Not sure about the E9 offering though.

Does anyone have any experience with Epicor Commerce? Our web guy listed the following concerns. I would love to debunk these. Do any of you fine Epicor users have any thing to say to this.?

1. 1. Even though it saws the software is SEO friendly. In summary it is not at all and we would lose 90% of search engine traffic and rankings if not more. I can go into more details if you would like.
2. 2. It says it has landing page functionality, but really it does not have anything we currently have or remotely what we are going to have in 3 to 6 months. In summary we would lose 70% of lead generation and the cost per lead would triple.
3. 3. The software is not open source, so we would not be able to add and customize anything we want.
4. 4. Its .net so the software is not theme based and expensive to customize the design.
5. 5. No social media integration
6. 6. It is not plugin based where we can add hundreds of already built cheap plugins
7. 7. It does not have blog functionality with thousands of cheap if not free plugins.
8. 8. There are more issues, but my thoughts, the first 4 are deal breakers.

We are looking into purchasing Epicor Commerce and using it with our 8.03 ERP system.

This is the e-commerce, web ordering solution from Epicor. Is anyone out there using this module? What are your comments about implementation and usefulness? They offer a Standard and Advanced version any comments regarding the differences would be appreciated as well.

I initially looked into this and found it not cost effective. It also was not very flexible to my needs. We were able to use a CodaBridge product that did exactly what I wanted it to do and worked well with our budget. We went live in 6 months with 11,000 materials, 300+ assemblies, distributor pricing, automated order/shipping confirmations, automated inventory updates, BOM Controls using Vantage, and many other features. The system allows full control of data from the Vantage interface. It also, allows for credit card processing for one off customers, and PO processing for allowed distributors. I am ecstatic with the results. You can get a look at www.marvelbandsawparts.com

CodaBridge is product offered by Codabears (http://www.codabears.com/) a
customs solutions provider based out of Chicago. Having not been
satisfied with the Epicor Commerce solution, I decided to venture out to
find a capable programmer and a web developer (Vision Friendly -
www.visionfriendly.com) who could handle this project. The program was
designed from the ground up with the intention of being marketed as a
standalone product. I cannot say enough good about the project without
sounding like an infomercial. If you want more information feel free to

What is the technology behind Epicor Commerce? Is it like the Connect products where there's a synchronization between the live and web databases or is it built on a live connection through Portal to SharePoint?

Thanks,

Mark W.
We just reviewed a demo of this product 10 days ago. We liked what we saw, but are still waiting for the price.
We are also reviewing alternatives.Â

Did they explain the architecture? We're Connect and (potential) Portal users and want to know how Commerce is different - especially at the (X)HTML level.

Thanks!

It is written by Insite (Epicor Partner) and works on webservices, I saw
it in the flesh at perspectives. It looked very good and really
flexible. From what I could see it was fully integrated and they
mentioned that product configurator would be part of the product in the
next 6 months

Thanks for the info. As you probably know, the Connect products used WebSpeed to synchronize the live database with a web database. If you take down your system for maintenance, the web site stays up and can still take orders. OTOH, if you take your system down, you take down your web services too. I was hoping that (and mentioned to) Epicor that they might keep the replication model. They can still use web services with the replicated database to provide more uptime.

Do you remember if it required SharePoint or if the demo was only in SharePoint?

Thanks!

Mark W.
Hi Gary,

We would be interested in this product, too - especially if it addresses the issue of bringing the Product Configurator to the web (which Epicor hasn't figured out on its own, apparently).

I am sure it has it's on database in case the connection breaks or
system goes offline and resyncs when connection is back. It would not
be scalable otherwise.

Hi Gary,

Thanks for the offer - my CAR actually contacted me yesterday and we have a conference call scheduled for Monday on it. (Honest - I'm trying not to laugh out loud; I knew that Epicor monitored this site, but I hadn't experienced it first-hand until yesterday!)

ANYWAY, if you could send me the URL for their demo site, I might be able to get ahead of Monday's call.

Thanks again,
Laraine

Hello fellow vantage users,

Just curious to find out if any of you are using or planning to use the new Commerce tool that just came out at the end of last year? I viewed a demo recently and am very interested, but have heard there are only about 15 folks up and running and about 10 more "almost ready to launch"

Are any of the "up and running" customers on this list? How about the "almost ready to launch" customers?

I'd be curious to hear your experiences and thoughts about the tool.

Thanks,
