Epicor/Avalara TaxConnect - Opinion Request

Thank you Brinda and Leannah for your replies! Much appreciated =)

Hey all,

We're looking very seriously at an add-on module called TaxConnect, which looks like it's a combined effort between Epicor and Avalara (http://www.avalara.com/integrations/epicor-tax-connect/).

I'm sold on this from what I've seen in both recorded and live demos and am in the process of getting purchase authorization. In the meantime however, I'm looking to hear from others who may already use this.

If you/your company uses Epicor TaxConnect, could you please answer the following?

What do you not like about TaxConnect?

What is the best/your favorite feature of TaxConnect?

If you were to start over, would you purchase TaxConnect for Epicor again? Why/why not?

Sheesh…it just occurred to me that in my quest to hear from you all and your experiences with this, that I sound just like a marketer looking for survey responses. I assure you this is legit and I do not work for Avalara or Epicor, or any other competitor—just an IT guy who only gets to spend his dollars once and doesn't like wasting time on products that sound good but aren't worth the cost/trouble.

One of our sites used Tax Connect.  I use the word used because we no longer own that site.  The site was on version 9.5.700c.  From an IT standpoint easy to setup.   I did work with Avalara tech support and gave the support team a stamp of approval.

The only issue we had was the processing of multi-line orders was very slow.  What normally took 3 seconds to save was taking 10 to 30 seconds.

The problem was an Epicor issue and not Avalara.  Since we no longer have Avalara I am not sure if the problem has been resolved or the users just stopped complaining.

We use it - works seamlessly. I like that they update all the tax tables and such. I've used other tax software where you had to apply updates constantly so Avalara is way batter that way.

I think returns processing would be great - but my accounting group doesn't use it.

I would take tax connect again in a heartbeat.I know how nasty sales tax calculations and especially sales tax audits. The product smoothes all of that out if you setup product's taxability correctly and maintain tax exemption certificates. That's a function you'd need to do anyway.
