Epicor Announces Vantage 5.1 Release

Here's the text from the second message I got regarding the Vantage 5.1 release and the Fax form to request your copy of the CD:

The fax number on the Product Release Form you received earlier today has
been changed to: 1-952-595-9825. The form you received will work fine as
the only change is the fax number. If you would like to download the form
with the correct phone number, please see the Vantage Support Center at
http://support.epicor.com/vantage. This will be updated first thing tomorrow morning.

I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

a subsequent email yesterday that corrected a fax number on the form and
promised the PDF form would be on the website this morning, but I haven't
seen it there yet. I faxed my form requesting 5.1 today.

I assume this is where the PDF form to fax and request your 5.1 CD will be posted eventually. I don't think it would be wrong of me to email it to anyone who might need it, would it? I'm sure if you called Vantage, they would send the form right out to you. My hunch is that maybe those users already on 5.0 got the email about release 5.1 first. Anyone who can verify that?

Nope. Still on 4.0. Got the E-mail. Told 'em I wasn't migrating until I

I'm new to the world of Vantage and I am the new network administrator here
at Apex die
and it seems to me you are pretty knowledgeable about how vantage works. I
was wondering if you had any helpful
ideas or recommend any classes I should take to get started. My background
is actually in Mac and I dealt with Filemaker.

Being fast on the email has little to do with my knowledge of Vantage. My only Vantage class EVER has been this email list. Also, I'm not afraid to call Tech Support for every little question that I have (if this list doesn't come up with the answer first). That's partly what we pay the maintenance agreement for, and I have to say that Tech Support has done a great job for us. I think most of the Production and Tech Support people know me by name, and a few of the financial folks at Epicor as well - just because I call so often. A user will come to me and say: "why is this doing this", and I'll say, "hmm, I'm not sure, let me call Tech Support." Then I'll go back to the user and say:"you double-clicked the print button instead of single-clicking" or whatever the case may be. Whatever I learn, I try to pass on to the group.

Some of the others here will have to help you on what classes to take. I'm sure I would have been better off getting started (it's been about two years now on Vantage) if I had had a class to start with.

You'll find that there are certain users on this list who are strong in certain areas. I enjoy Crystal reporting the most, but don't ask my Anything about Report Builder. I avoid it like the plague (because I don't know it well, not because it's not a good tool). Others are experts in Progress programming, or Accounting, or Networking, or Vantage Basic, or whatever.

The power of this list is 800 users who are in the trenches working out the problems that are unique to their business, and there's not much that slips by them.

So, to sum up... Don't be afraid to ask whatever you're wondering about.
