Epicor 9 10.2A Progress 32bit ODBC Driver setup

Does something have to be done on the Epicor9 SERVER to get ODBC working on a CLIENT? Â

On our Vantage8.03 system, I never once have EVER had to run NetSetup on a client to get ODBC working on a client PC. All that I had to do was create the registry entry file and double click it on the client machine to add it, then goto ODBC Administrator and select “OpenEdge 10.1B driver” , configure it to point to our Vantage 8.03 server and it has worked every time on every client PC that needed to run Crystal Reports connecting to Vantage.Â

On Epicor9, I can’t get it to work at all…..

Can you take me through the steps you performed on the server and clients to get it working? I really appreciate your help!

Mike…

I have also progress installed on Windows 2003 and I run netsetup from there.

Has anyone got this to work?  I followed the instructions Epicor sent me but when I try to add a new Progress 10.2A ODBC connection, I get “The setup routines for the OpenEdge 10.2a driver ODBC driver could not be loaded due to system error code 193”.  Below is my registry entries I used following their instructions (epicor9 is the name of my server).  Any ideas???

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ODBC\ODBCINST.INI\OpenEdge 10.2A driver]

"APILevel"="1"

"ConnectFunctions"="YYY"

"CPTimeout"="60"

"Driver"="\\\\epicor9\\oe102a\\bin\\pgoe1023.dll"

"DriverODBCVer"="5.1"

"FileUsage"="0"

"Setup"="\\\\epicor9\\oe102a\\bin\\pgoe1023.dll"

"SQLLevel"="1"

"UsageCount"="1"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ODBC\ODBCINST.INI\ODBC Drivers]

"OpenEdge 10.2A driver"="Installed"

This is what I have and it is working:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ODBC\ODBCINST.INI\Progress OpenEdge 10.2A Driver]
"Driver"="c:\\Program Files\\epicor\\oe102a\\bin\\pgoe1023.dll"
"Setup"="c:\\Program Files\\epicor\\oe102a\\bin\\pgoe1023.dll"
"DriverODBCVer"="3.50"
"APILevel"="1"
"ConnectFunctions"="YYN"
"CPTimeout"="60"
"FileUsage"="0"
"SQLLevel"="0"
"UsageCount"="1"

Did you run the “netsetup” successfully before you created the entry? When I try to run the netsetup.exe (per Epicor’s instructions), I get a file not found “\\epicor9\oe102a\netsetup\regsvr32.exe” and then it dumps out.  Wondering if that’s my problem.Â

I’ve successfully configured the 10.1B driver on our Vantage8.03 server on many machines with just the registry entry (no netsetup install needed) pointing to the DLL’s on our Vantage 8.03 server’s oe101b progress directory and it always works so I’m not sure what’s different with 10.2A. Any ideas?

Is it a 64 bit machine?

If so you need registry entries in

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\ODBC\ODBCINST.INI\OpenEdge 10.2A driver]

and

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\ODBC\ODBCINST.INI\ODBC Drivers]

and then need to use

%WINDIR%\SysWow64\odbcad32.exe

to add the datasource

No, it’s an XP 32bit machine, but I also tried it on a Windows7 64 bit machine (using what you suggested as I know about the 64bit thing), and it gave me the same error when I tried to create a connection. 10.1B works fine……
