Epicor 9.05 Hardware

Ivette,

I would go with what they are suggesting. We have 2 kick ass servers. But
the performance sucks. We think a lot of it is our configuration of our
network and the SQL tuning. We are in the process of fine tuning things.

From what I have seen with other users, you need to get the fastest
possible. RAID 5 is much slower than RAID 10 especially across a SQL
database. I heard that the openedge DB is faster by nature than SQL.....but
then its openedge.

We are a new customer and just installed 2 months ago and are now doing
data migration. DM is slow so far.

Anyway, I would do what they say for hardware, or else i think you will kick
yourself later.

The new server spec, as recommended by Epicor, includes a
SAN. Instead
of using a regular SAN, a Netapp appliance or Dell
Equallogic appliance
is being investigated as an alternative. Epicor has
advised against the
Netapp appliance because of the inability to support
RAID10.

Any experience with either Netapp or Equallogic as a SAN?
All pros and
cons of the technology, any and all feedback would be
appreciated.
