Epicor 10.0.700.2 - New UD Fields not available in BAQ or Custom

Odd enough we heard back from support.  Even though I recycled the application pool and rebooted the server.  Their suggestion was to reset IIS.  Magic...all my fields are now available.  Someone else walked through the resolution with Support but apparently that is all they did.
Group,

I have added a few UD fields to the Vendor table using the Extended UD Table Maintenance screen.  I ran the "Sync Current Table to DB" (which created the Vendor_UD table with the fields I defined), then I "Regenerated the Data model in System Administration for the correct environment, finally I bounced the IIS Application Pool associated with the environment (truth be told, after recycling the app pool, I restarted the entire server just to be sure).  However, when I attempt to write a BAQ or bind a field in a Customization using these new fields...they are no where to be found.

I reboot again and go check my UD Table Maintenance on that table and both the "Table in Sync" and "Data Model in Sync" green buttons are highlighted.

Is there another step I'm missing so that I can see them?  Any helpful hints out there?

Thank you in advance!

Brian Smith

You need to re-deploy the app server... I think that's what it's called...

Brian -

Please make sure you stop the task server and application pool in the Administration Console before regenerating the DB. Without these steps the UD fields may not get generated.

Tech Support has a document on the complete process but summary is:
running versions 10.0.600.4 or later, you need to do the following:

1. Exit Epicor 10 and have all others log off.

2. Stop the Task Agent Service on the E10 server
(Epicor Administration Console. Expand Server Management / <servername> / <application server> / Task Agent Configuration button / Actions / Stop Service)

3. Stop the AppPool
(Epicor Administration Console. Expand Server Management / <servername> / <application server>. On the right under Actions / Stop Application Pool)

4. Regenerate the Data Model
(Epicor Administration Console / Expand Database Server Management / <servername> / <Database>. On the right under Actions > Regenerate the Data Model)

5. Start the AppPool

6. Restart the Task Agent.

7. Log back into Epicor 10.

Hope this helps - I personally prefer 12 steps.

Thank you in advance,
Calvin Dekker

[Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

In Epicor’s admin tools, databases – make sure the ICE and ERP versions are correct.

I have found that if they show an older version (10.0.700.1) the dB would generate but it would not add to allow bindings

If that’s the case, you need to update your ice.ICEVER table to have dates of 700.2 be latest date

Thank you everyone for the responses and I have attempted/verified all four suggestions without success.  The fields appear in the actual database but still are not available when working with BAQs or Customizations.  I will have to wait for the response from Support at this point.

Thank you again!

Brian,

If you had BAQ or customization created BEFORE UD field was added, you may want to use base customization or blank BAQ and recreate.

I had similar situation. I was able to see the UD fields on new BAQ and customizations, but not on the customization/BAQ that was created before UD field was added.
Thanks for the idea Daniel.  I attempted a new BAQ and Customization but still am unable to see them.

Brian,

What do your using statements on the custom code look like?  I remember having to change mine.  And then have you tried re-compiling your BAQs in the system management section?

from:

using Epicor.Mfg.BO;

using Epicor.Mfg.UI;

using Epicor.Mfg.UI.Adapters;

using Epicor.Mfg.UI.Customization;

using Epicor.Mfg.UI.ExtendedProps;

using Epicor.Mfg.UI.FormFunctions;

using Epicor.Mfg.UI.FrameWork;

using Epicor.Mfg.UI.Searches;

To:

using Erp.UI;

using Ice.Lib.Customization;

using Ice.Lib.ExtendedProps;

using Ice.Lib.Framework;

using Ice.Lib.Searches;

using Ice.UI.FormFunctions;

Subject: Re: [Vantage] Epicor 10.0.700.2 - New UD Fields not available in BAQ or Customization

Thank you everyone for the responses and I have attempted/verified all four suggestions without success.  The fields appear in the actual database but still are not available when working with BAQs or Customizations.  I will have to wait for the response from Support at this point.

Thank you again!

Brian

In Epicor’s admin tools, databases – make sure the ICE and ERP versions are correct.

I have found that if they show an older version (10.0.700.1) the dB would generate but it would not add to allow bindings

If that’s the case, you need to update your ice.ICEVER table to have dates of 700.2 be latest date

Thanks for the response Brenda!  I am just attempting to build a form customization and bind a textbox to one of the fields that I created.  However, they don't show as an available option in the EpiBind option.
When you open the Extended UD Table Manintenance do you get 2 green boxes (Synced and Model in Sync?)

That I do and that is why this is driving me crazy.
David,
What table did you add this to?
You should have the following on your DB
YourTable
YourTable_UD

and under views there should be a new combined view called
YourTable

If all that exists then I can see no reason why this wouldn't work. Are you sure you have set the permissions right on the folders so that the Re-Generate DataSet can override the DataModel? Though if you have the Green CheckBox that means it should be all there.
The fields in your BAQ should be in YourTable not YourTable_UD. Basically Epicor uses the aforementioned Views after the re-gen happens.
