Emailing directly from Vantage

Stan,
Thanks a lot for your help. At least I'm not the only one going crazy.

This is a well known problem which Epicor refuses to address. I also am
on
6.1 and I use Primo pdf (free download software to convert to pdf) to
print
to pdf and attach to e-mail. Unfortunately I have the same problem,
where
after a few prints Vantage quits and needs to be restarted. I
discovered
this a few years ago; not only was it happening when printing to pdf but
also when printing directly to a crystal report (job Traveler). What
support told me was that it is a Microsoft problem!

Well I did find out that it has a lot to do with printers installed at
the
work stations. Where I had only one local printer and did not print to
pdf
there were no issues when printing. It is when there are multiple
printers
installed (pdf writers are seen as printers) and you need to change the
workstation's default printer to one of the others installed, is where
the
problem begins. Then after a few prints, out you go.

I had some limited success with a work around which was prior to
printing to
pdf, from the control panel of the workstation change the default
printer to
the pdf writer, then print all the pdfs. That worked good for one of
our
work horse work station (AR person who pdf's about 30-40 Invoices/day).
However she found it "easier" to have to restart Vantage sessions as
opposed
to changing the default printer back and forth. (Go figure!)

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone has developed an ability to email directly
from Vantage.
I am in 6.1 and the Advance Print Management Program (ALTEC) that Epicor
sold me on is not for me. It creates print data base and takes way too
much space slowing down Vantage performance.
So I tried using Acrobat to print .pdf and then attach it to email.
This is not working very well either. After 5-7 prints it stops working
and Vantage needs to be restarted on that workstation. Tech support told
me that it's a version issue because Vantage is not compatible with the
higher than 5.0 version of Acrobat. I have one workstation with this
version on and the problem is the same.

I would very much appreciate any help.

First thing is it looks like you have Altec on the same server as
Vantage. It should be on a seperate server. We are using it for
automatic emailing and archiving and it seems to work fine. We are
on 8.03 though.
