Do you really want to use EDI?

We know of several massive companies in the UK who nearly went into administration because of EDI.

Investigate it carefully.

We are currently on 8.03.409C SQL

We are using Tie Commerce VAN and spEDI map mapping software (from TIE Kinetix). We process 810,820,830,850,856,862.

Epicor has a Service Connect workflow for version 8.03 and I hear a new "direct import" for version 9 - but I have not seen it yet.

We found the Demand Management module was more work than we wanted for 8.03, so we have developed our own Service Connect workflow to use for inbound EDI transactions.

We're just beginning our EDI implementation targeting the 8.03.410 release, we need to upgrade first from .408B. We have BizConnect from GXS with their Mapper tool that will also allow us to do file Transformations into the required format for Vantage V8. We use GXS (formerly Inovis) as our VAN as well.

The difference with EPICOR 9 is that the Service Connect tool will no longer be used for managing the data integration with the business objects. Not sure on the specifics but I understand it's a full redesign of the integration layer.
