E9: UOM Conversion

Thanks…we are on 607A and moving to 702A by next month I hope.  I did see the UOM Conversion on 702A.  I will just have to wait.

Epicor provided added a "Part UOM Conversion" option, not sure when but it is available in 9.05.702a under System Management, Utilities.  No need to force SQL statements anymore.

The application help will walk you through it.  We tried it on a couple parts and it worked, just had to be patient because you can't have any open transactions on it.  You also have to watch the next PO if its purchased.  In our case it pulled in the last PO information which was the wrong.  Our engineers also didn't like the pseudo conversion class we had to go through (had to add an "Other" class since we were converting FT to EA, and that's the class that stayed with the part)

Our part is setup as FT in the system.  But the supplier ships to us a EA.

1 box (EA) = 12 Ea of 4 ft. = 48ft.

So at receipt, I would like to receive 10 boxes which will take as 480 ft.

How would I set that up in Part Entry under UOM.

Miguel A. Santillan

Can each box have different lengths per part? Then you need part specific. Otherwise just set the PUM for a regular conversion factor of 1EA = 48ft

In this case, this product that we buy will have 12 pieces of 4 ft, about 30 partnumbers are that way.

The UOM Class is already set as Length Measurements (FT / FT/ FT), I tried to change the PUOM but the EA option is not there.   I tried to add EA to the UOM Class, but it states there is already a conversion for it but I cant find it.

Thinking I can create another UOM Class, but that is greyed out in the part master for that one part I am testing on.

You can't change UOMs with inventory o/h (or demand).

And for that matter as far as I know you can’t change classes of IUM SalesUM or PUM after there are any transactions. Not without some black magic Epicor frowns upon.

If I am understanding you....

Any changed to UOM Classes need to be done through UOM Maintenance and UOM Class Maintenance.  You can change the Part UOM Class but it has to be forced through a SQL update.  Like the other person said Epicor frowns on it be we do it all the time.
