E9 to E10 Migration: Start over using the Interim DB

In your case, did you just manually repopulate ICE.ICEVer to get past this issue?
My first call to Epicor resulted in support not know of this issue.

I can tell you from personal experience that all of the issues described here happened to me (both the IceVer being messed up, and the Admin Console stopped working then until I re-installed it) and I am doing a SQL to SQL conversion. We were never on a Progress database.

Glad to hear others are seeing this, and that Epicor is aware. Is 10.1 still predicted to be out next month?

Hi All,

So I got to the end of the E9 to E10 migration process only to run into an issue when trying to rebuild that data model.
It looks like something happened way back in the beginning when the E10 database was created and it did not have an App version specified and the ICE version was 3.0.6 even though I never install E10 600.

As a result, I am being told I have to start the entire migration process over.
After creating the new E10 DB, the ICE version and App version look good.

My question is, has anyone had to start over and tried to reuse the existing interim DB instead of starting at the very beginning, which would include migrating the Progress data to the interim DB. This step, step 10, took me 17 hours and I really don’t want to have to run that step again.

Epicor says there is no other option but did note that it is because they never tried this in house.

I am attempting to do this by skipping step 10 and 100, which clearly seem to be related to just working with E9 data.
I’ll report back in with how it went, but I’m hoping that someone has done the say to I can feel confident with the resulting E10 DB.

Joe,

I had the problem with my second attempt at a conversion.  I went into the demo db and copy the records out of the ICVer table.  They admin server liked what I put in there and started the conversion process.

I hope I don't have to do that on cut over weekend, but I figure it was good enough to get me through the process for testing.

I had to do the same thing. Ice.ICEVer table was empty after migration.

Oh man. I really wish Epicor knew about this.
I already blew away my DB and started over.
On top of that, I’m having problems starting over!

Joe,

I think this is only a problem with the .2 service pack.  I reloaded the .1 and the new db creation worked fine.

I am waiting on Epicor to confirm this error with the .2 service back.

That would makes sense. I’ve only been working with .2
If it happens again on this next migration, I’ll give them a call too.

Try uninstalling the Epicor administration Console and re-installing.

Be sure to delete all the files under C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Epicor Software Corporation\Epicor ERP Administration Console

The re-attach the database to the console.

Epicor knows of this problem and is moving away from the MMC console by 10.1
