E10 sql backup Blank Title 133033

I have been juggling E10 databases for a couple months now.  Our installation consultant from Epicor kindly did a backup immediately after things were running of the Training DB and I have restored it several times so people can do the embedded education without a prior student’s clutter.  That restore is pretty straightforward and only requires check marking “overwrite”.  Training will remain “pristine” with the Epicor companies to stay in synch with the EE courses.

This morning I set up our Pilot DB as our “gold standard” setup with no transactions by restoring Test to Pilot.  Eventually it will be restored to Live (currently empty) and periodically it will be restored back to Test so people can play with increasingly real data.  Restoring a backup from one DB to another is a little trickier and took me part of a morning to figure out where to change the destination files part because it takes a long time to populate the files list.  Once past that it is pretty easy to do the restores.

I have yet to set up the scheduled backups for Epicor’s databases but had done that previously for MS Dynamics CRM and other SQL Server DBs and it was not a big real.

Thanks for the responses!  I am going from a progress system to SQL and oddly review the documentation for installation and migration I have not found anything on restoring the data base from a backup or even the training data base from a live backup.

I took a course on Epicor System management once, and they recommended this script and instructions for setting up a maintenance plan on your SQL database:

How are backups handled with E10 are they done through SQL Management Studio?

Thanks

Steve

Yes.  Right click in the database name and select Tasks.  Backup and restore are in there.

Also under SQL Server Agent at the bottom you can create scheduled backup jobs using the command line commands for backup.

All assuming proper access rights to SQL and the databases.
