E10 & Skipping Operation Setup Time

Is there an option with E10 Engineering Workbench operations to optionally skip the setup time for the operation? The option I would like covers a scenario when an operation uses the same resource (machinery) as the previous operation.

Here is how my configuration works today:

Operation 1: Turn, using machine #1 = 10 min setup + 30 min production time

Operation 2: Face, using machine #1 = 10 min setup + 30 min prod time

Operation 3: Mill, using machine #2 = 10 min setup + 30 min prod time

TOTAL TIME = 30 min setup + 90 min prod = 120 min

Here is the configuration I’d like to have:

Operation 1: Turn, using machine #1 = 10 min setup + 30 min production time

Operation 2: Face, using machine #1 = (no setup) + 30 min prod time

Operation 3: Mill, using machine #2 = 10 min setup + 30 min prod time

TOTAL TIME = 20 min setup + 90 min prod = 110 min

Over the course of a production day, these small differences add up to substantial amounts, impacting production planning.

I recognize there may be several paths with BPMs to achieve the desired end result on a job-by-job basis; I’m hoping there is a system/site configuration switch I’ve overlooked that supports the “skip setup” step.

You can of course combine the first two operations into one, this would seem to make sense, as we would normally only change an operation when we move to another machine.

a simple bpm can of course remove the set up, if the scheduled resource is the same as the previous op, but you would only know that after scheduling, when the time has been consumed.

what stops the scheduling engine moving the second op onto a separate lathe if you have more than one in the resource group.

A re-think in the job set up, is probably the best way forward.
