Can someone point me towards an individual that can help me install service connect on our server?
I installed the software, however, I need help with the Server and Epicor settings. The install guide helps but it’s too vague for someone like me who is not an IT guy.
I’ve done many of these, and it keeps getting more complicated (relatively speaking) every release, though more so with the advent of 10 than from 8 to 9. There are usually a few gotchas with DCOM settings, and signed certs etc that weren’t in play versions ago. Where are you stuck at this point?
The steps after the software installation.
I think I configured the DCOM correctly, but couldn’t guarantee it.
I am stuck with the task monitor, do not know where to go see if it was
installed.
I installed Service Connect on the SQL server… should I have installed it
on the Epicor server instead?

where you install it is really dependent on resource allocation as far as how you expect the impact to the work load will be on the server you install it to. Generally speaking you are discouraged from putting it on the App server for sure, and I’m not sure what prevailing opinion is regarding throwing on your SQL box (assuming it’s split off from your App server), but i have always placed it on another box of some sort (usually along with other ancillary stuff) though it really doesn’t need to be dedicated a stand alone resource. task monitor can be a bit different. On the server you have SC installed on it would be http://localhost/taskmonitor. Accessing it from other client desktops ive struggled with myself and usually just put an scshost entry in the hosts file on whatever local machine needed to access the task monitor. In the past this was quite a limited number of people. I’m sure there is much better approaches out there.
During installation of ESC you are asked to create a new website for your ESC applications (Task Monitor, SC Integration Web Service, etc.). It will create “scshost” website on the server where you are installing SC (on the local IIS).
The website files will be stored under “C:\Epicor Service Connect\WebApps*”
Open up IIS console and check your websites.
Also, be sure you configure it for both http and https so it can be accessed successfully from other servers/clients.
Open your internet browser and try:
https://yourserver/TaskMonitor
http://scshost/TaskMonitor/
You should see the login screen:

Using a self signed certificate how can I browse to the site via the https
without receiving warnings that the site is not safe?

when you say site, you mean the task monitor? If you have imported your SSC into your store you shouldn’t get that warning.
