E10: Replication Server

Not really.  Unless you want a separate pay ground.

Thanks Anthony.

When you say there is no need for replication server, I think I understand what you mean. Epicor has bolt on products that run off of SQL Server so there was a need to replication a Progress DB to SQL Server to make them work. Now that E10 is on SQL Server, there is no need in this sense.

However, when talking about performance hits against the SQL Server when you have E10 and other bolt ons hitting the same SQL Server, is there no longer a need for replicating to another SQL Server instance to offload some of the work?

There is no need for rep server in E10. I was also on a progress DB and migrated to SQL. I used rep server for enterprise search. Been live on 10 since February or March…

Hello,

In E9.05 we used the replication server feature to replicate our Progress DB to SQL Server so that we could do all our reporting and analytics on a separate server so as to not impact performance of our live server.
A quick note that I got from Epicor is that Replication Server is no longer needed for E10. I noticed that it’s not a licensed module in our E10 license file although it is listed as a module. I’m following up to see what that means but I thought I’d ask this group too.

Can I still do this type of replication? If so, is this an Epicor feature or a pure SQL Server feature? Lastly, if SQL Server, can someone point me in the right direction?
