E10 hardware Blank Title 134012

The Pilot DB is only 1.4GB.  It is everything except transactions (jobs, order, etc…).  But all the static master file info is there except for Part BoMs.  So pretty small still until we go live.  One interesting speed observation – our thin clients pop up screens and info about twice as fast as desktops and laptops.  Even at our Phoenix plant connected to the Bloomington, MN HQ.  Not sure but I suspect it has to do with the solid state “disks” in the thin clients.  So it looks like there is a fair bit of speed impact at the client level.

Version is SQL Server 2012 (11.0.5058.0).

Thanks Todd that’s very promising.  Do you mind if I ask about how big your database is and which version of SQL you’re running?

Getting close to Live.  More users testing things out every day so approaching maybe 30% load.

We have two ERP servers (Hyper-V VMs) which I believe are on different physical servers.  I won’t be very happy if they are on the same box for DR reasons but I was not here when they were set up.  They both show to be on Xeon CPU E5-2667 v2 @ 3.30Ghz quad core.  Both have 48GB RAM.  We also have another VM server for SQL Server which has the same CPU specs and 64GB RAM.  There is also a Web server which APM will be using.  The two ERP servers are monitored and load balanced by some system I can’t recall the name of but I’m told was recommended by Epicor.   Right now we are licensed for 37 full and 9 MES but these will increase to 60 and 50 respectively before we go live early next year.  So far performance is great with the only noticeable issues being a few seconds to load screens the first time and some printing taking a little while to generate (20-30 seconds).

Hello all.

I’m curious to know  who out there might be live on E10 ( or close to it )  and what kind of CPUs they have on their  SQL & App servers. Epicor recommends a single  E5-2450 2.5Ghz 8core with 20M cache for  up to 15 users and  E5-2667 3.3Ghz  8Core 25M cache for up to 50 users. We fall somewhere in the middle.

We’re getting ready to buy some hardware  and  want to know what  others might have and the performance they are getting from a cpu stand point.

We’re debating getting either a single cpu with 8 cores, 2 cpus with 8 cores  or 2 cpus with 4 cores. Basically we’re trying to keep the cost down of licensing SQL  since we’ll be licensing per core.

Better to have more hardware than not enough! I don’t think your cost will change much if you treat it as if you have 50 users…
