E10 - Error Trying to Add UD Fields as Quick Search Criteria

I tried to refresh it but it just wiped out the new criteria I was adding

I can leave it in the quick search and they can see the fields but they still want the prompts

thanks for looking into it, if I hear anything from support or figure anything else out I will let you guys know!

I managed to get the error, but I refreshed, saved and it took it.  I will need to play with it a bit more.  Possible work-around:  If you leave the search under the BAQ and set it as default, would that work for your users?

Interesting.  I created searches on both the customer & Quote w/out error.  I used UD fields from E9 as well as ones I have created since.  All showed.  The only thing I noticed was when I did not use what Epicor would probably consider a “key” type value ie CUSTID the search did not show up as an option.  But I did not get an error.

Yeah I see all that. Back to my original question which is why in the Quick Search Criteria when I tried to add these two fields do I get the Invalid Table/Field error?

You just use the Customer table in your BAQ.  Once the Data Model is regenerated, you should see the new UD fields there.  Only UD fields with data would have converted from E9.

E10 does not have the same custom fields in the base tables as E9 did; to use custom fields in E10 you created an Extended User Defined tables and create the fields in there.
 
When you upgrade from E9 to E10 and you have used the UD fields within the E9 base tables the upgrade will look to see if there is data in the existing UD fields; if there is it will:
1) Create the fields in the E10 base tables and populate with the E9 data
2) Create the Extended UD table and the fields and populate with the E9 data
 
However, it is only the fields in the Extended UD table that you use moving forwards.

We have a couple of UD fields on the customer table (bought over from E9 but working in E10). When we try to add those fields on a Quick Search as a criteria error message states "Table/Field not valid"

Support does not have anything open on this. Anyone else trying to use UD Fields on a Quick Search as a criteria?

I believe when BAQs are converted, and reference to UD fields are dropped because they are no longer in the actual table (e.g. OrdeHed).
I haven’t look at one yet, but my guess is that you have to go back into the BAQ and either point to the view that combines the two tables (Customer and Customer_UD) or just add and link Customer_UD and add the UD fields back.

Ours came across.  We had some other issues with the quick search (ie not loading the selected line(fixed)), but the UD fields can be seen.  Have you Sync’d the tables & regenerated your data model?

I believe when BAQs are converted, and reference to UD fields are dropped because they are no longer in the actual table (e.g. OrdeHed).
I haven’t look at one yet, but my guess is that you have to go back into the BAQ and either point to the view that combines the two tables (Customer and Customer_UD) or just add and link Customer_UD and add the UD fields back.

Yes we did all that right after the conversion. We don't have any issues with the customization (if they weren't working we would get errors about invalid bindings whenever we tried to open up customer maintenance screen)

The fields are there, populated, can see them in the BAQ available fields, etc.

You just use the Customer table in your BAQ.  Once the Data Model is regenerated, you should see the new UD fields there.  Only UD fields with data would have converted from E9.

Yeah I see all that. Back to my original question which is why in the Quick Search Criteria when I tried to add these two fields do I get the Invalid Table/Field error?

Interesting.  I created searches on both the customer & Quote w/out error.  I used UD fields from E9 as well as ones I have created since.  All showed.  The only thing I noticed was when I did not use what Epicor would probably consider a “key” type value ie CUSTID the search did not show up as an option.  But I did not get an error.

Interesting.  I created searches on both the customer & Quote w/out error.  I used UD fields from E9 as well as ones I have created since.  All showed.  The only thing I noticed was when I did not use what Epicor would probably consider a “key” type value ie CUSTID the search did not show up as an option.  But I did not get an error.

Yeah I see all that. Back to my original question which is why in the Quick Search Criteria when I tried to add these two fields do I get the Invalid Table/Field error?

E10 does not have the same custom fields in the base tables as E9 did; to use custom fields in E10 you created an Extended User Defined tables and create the fields in there.
 
When you upgrade from E9 to E10 and you have used the UD fields within the E9 base tables the upgrade will look to see if there is data in the existing UD fields; if there is it will:
1) Create the fields in the E10 base tables and populate with the E9 data
2) Create the Extended UD table and the fields and populate with the E9 data
 
However, it is only the fields in the Extended UD table that you use moving forwards.
 
I think your problem is that the Quick Search is pointing to the original UD fields in the base table (e.g. Customer.ShortChar01) however E10 doesn't recognise this so you should point it to Customer_UD.ShortChar01

I managed to get the error, but I refreshed, saved and it took it.  I will need to play with it a bit more.  Possible work-around:  If you leave the search under the BAQ and set it as default, would that work for your users?
