E 9.05 - BPMs - Post Processing Directives

All good input, thanks for the suggestions everyone. I'll get the code
posted up here later tonight; traveling right now.

I *did* try to enable the dependent post processing directive from a
Pre-processing directive... I think that's all there is to it.

Maybe Rob hit the nail on the head.... I *am* using RowMod conditions in my
code. I innocently cut-and-pasted the working code from the PRE directive
right into the POST directive. Maybe that's all this issue is.

I haven't used Data Dir

That makes sense but, I was thinking from what Vic said that the post BPM
wasn't firing.

Maybe it depends on your conditions.. if youre using rowmod status for
instance, I always thought there isn't one in the post process phase..

Did you do that as a workaround or did you need that enable post
functionality? Is there a reason you can think of why a post proc wouldn't
fire when a pre-proc does? I haven't run into that.

the lovely TranGLC table back into PORel. The BPM works flawlessly only
when updating an existing PO. If I'm entering a NEW purchase order, the
Pre-Processing directive doesn't work for obvious reason.. the record
doesn't yet exist in TranGLC. it hasn't written it yet. So I opted for a

You could probably create a DataDirective for TranGLC to check when a new record is added and if it is related to PORel, then copy necessary information to the PO.

Or maybe try to move it to the Post of the TranGLCJournal.GetNewTranGLCDtl?

In answer to your question though, if the trace shows the method firing, you shouldn't have to do anything with the Pre side in order to get the Post side to fire. Of course, it's Epicor so anything is possible.

Have you tried using the pre-process to enable a post-process directive?
I have seen this used in BPMs where a post-process never fired by itself.

Did you do that as a workaround or did you need that enable post functionality? Is there a reason you can think of why a post proc wouldn't fire when a pre-proc does? I haven't run into that.

Has anyone tried getting this to work using the email template? We are
running into this issue when we use the CallContextData passed through
to a post method directive but would not pass into the email template
method directive.

Did you do that as a workaround or did you need that enable post
functionality? Is there a reason you can think of why a post proc
wouldn't fire when a pre-proc does? I haven't run into that.

I have come across several cases where the post will not fire because the data is not brought forward. I pass data collected from the pre into CallContextBpmData fields and go from there. Works, but not consistently. Off the top of my head w/ out much research, I seem to remember at least one where I had to go at it from a different BO, very round about by the time I got it to work.

Has anyone tried getting this to work using the email template? We are
running into this issue when we use the CallContextData passed through
to a post method directive but would not pass into the email template
method directive.

In most cases RowMod status will be blank in post-processing Update method. Try below:
1) Add condition with new ttPODetail in Pre-Processing. Store PO number and line in CallContextData in Pre-processing and enable post-processing.  In post-processing, update PORel as always release number will be 1.
2) Add condition with new ttPORel in Pre-processing. Store PO number and line in CallContextData in Pre-processing and enable Post-processing.In post-processing, update PORel as always release number will be the last .

I'll give
that a try.

I haven't used Data Directives before... They sound like my SQL Triggers.
Perhaps that's a better route for this task.

Thanks again!!

That makes sense but, I was thinking from what Vic said that the post BPM
wasn't firing.

Maybe it depends on your conditions.. if youre using rowmod status for
instance, I always thought there isn't one in the post process phase..
