When duplicating parts, we are wanting to record which part it was duplicated from. We have found some instances where we have errors on a part and we want to be able to look and see if it has been duplicated. This would allow us to go fix the source and any other duplicated parts as well instead of finding them one at a time in production.
Does anyone know how I can pass the original part number and revision to the duplicated part? I attempted to pass the information from Pre to post, but I’ve found that in pre-processing the part and rev information is blank. I’m just wanting to pass the original Part and Rev information to the Post-Processing directive so that I can store it in some UD fields that I’ve set up.
Is anyone here doing something similar or able to share general tips on passing data forward in instances like this one where something is being copied?
