Dump and Load

I am running a "dump and load" on Vantage version 4 and I am entering
the command line for the load at C:\DBDUMP and it is telling me that
_proutil is not an internal or external command.

Is there anyone out there that can help me?????

Please reponse directly to me so I am assured of getting any response.

Thanks in advance.
Thanks to Calvin. I'm on my way.

I forgot to change the epicor instructions to my physical path when I
was entering the DLC and PATH.
You may need to add the path to the _proutil.exe command. On our system the path is: f:\epic50\progress\bin\_proutil
If you are at the command prompt, you can type:
path=f:\epic50\progress\bin <ENTER>
That way you won't have to keep typing in the whole path before you enter the _proutil command.

I was just wondering what is the purpose of Dump an Load and what is the
procedure for the operation on 5.10. I have been having some datadase
glitches and other unexplainable problems that epicor can't seem to answer.

Its sort of defrag for your database. If I remember my Progress training
correctly, when you erase records, Progress does not fill in the resulting
empty space. Thus the database continues to grow. By dumping and loading it,
the database gets rebuilt without the empty space.

As to whether it would fix your problem, its odd that Epicor didn't already
have you try a dump and load. They seem to suggest it as a solution to
"glitches".

Not quit true. When you delete a record, Progress does mark the space as
empty, and will attempt ot reuse it, However, in some cases, the space
made available from a delete is too small to hold a new record. The data
base grows as the amount of data that you store increases, other things
being equal.

My experience suggests that most systems grow very fast during the first
6 to 8 months. Then the growth rate starts to slow, and will eventually
reach a steady rate at 18 to 24 months. YMMV.
