Just to give everyone with performance problems a heads up. When we went to
Vantage 5.2 last year we noticed some performance problems in customer
tracker, AP invoice entry plus the new engineering workbench was painfully
slow. We assumed it was the new version and our old server and went on with
life.
Recently we had Vantage support look at our database and they said it was
fragmented and we needed to do a "dump and load" of the database. They sent
us a kit to do this. We just completed it over the weekend and have seen an
incredible performance increase. The new database is the 8K block size
instead of the 4K block size. This allows for the use of files larger than
2GB, so now we don't have the multi-extents...just one big 4GB file for the
data.
With the performance increase that we have seen it was worth being up here
all weekend and I would suggest it to anyone with speed problems in Vantage
5.2
