We are prepping to migrate to E10.600 in August. I’d like to set some DMT templates up for items we know we have to change after data migration. I could be missing it but I couldn’t find any templates to update Company settings such as the SSRS Reporting section or Global Alerts From section. Those fields seem to be tie to the Ice.SysCompany database table.
The Company General template does not have the listed fields I need to update. Any ideas, or will we just have to update some of those settings manually?
Here are some of the fields I’m looking in the database in the SysCompany table:
EmailFromAddr, EmailFromLabel, AllowDefaultDoc, ReportTypePref, WorkstationMethod, EntSearchURL, SSRSBaseURL, SSRSDatabaseServerName , SSRSAuthenticationType, SSRSDatabaseName, SSRSOverrideDefaults, EpicorHelpURL
There is quite a few Company options. You’ll want to test but I think it’d cover much of your needs. You can also look at the Migration menus for suggestions on which tables to touch in which Phase (1-5)
Just looked at the DMT for E10. Compared to E9, I am very impressed. It has become a very useful tool, by the looks, but no SSRS fields as Caleb mentioned.
Giving the Updatable dashboard a crack and I get System.String? in the .Net DataType field for the Column Mapping. This is stopping me saving the uBAQ. Any ideas?
@Hally , I’ve not had good luck with updateable dashboards for system tables. I was trying to menu one to reorganize items in the menu and change SEC codes… didn’t work but a DMT did for e10.
There isn’t much that needs to be changed so I think we’ll do it manually. It just would have been nice to have it all ready to go with a click of a button. Still seems silly that some of those fields are left out.
Appreciate everybody’s thoughts. This place is awesome.
There have been times I’ve been guilty of , just wanting to get the job done, but without contributions from the user community Epicor can’t improve the product. Your issue may seem minor, and you may even see it fixed in a later version of the DMT, however the next person that comes along with 200 company records to update on an implementation or a SSRS update to the same number of records, will appreciate it, even if they don’t realise it was your contribution that made it possible.
So I implore everyone to report things like this to help. For those who disagree. If you think that having Epicor going back to the old ways where it seemed patches were released and left it to the end users to test, your all crazy! Epicor have made a huge improvement with quality and customer service and deserves our support, and as users we deserve each others help also. Isn’t this one of the reasons why we post here? Apologies for the rant. Moderators please remove this post if you find this post not in the spirit of E10HELP
Completely Agree - if DMT is missing something our community feel is important - send though to support. I will ensure this capability gets added though.
The DMT guys (based in the UK) are top notch, Arthur Cole will respond to your issue very quickly (in my experience) and likely tell you that the new option you’ve requested will be in the next monthly release. With Stephen putting his name to it, you’ll probably have it delivered first thing Tuesday morning.
The DMT Company General Import supports the Epicor Company Configuration screen (Erp.Company table). There is currently no DMT Import for the Epicor Company Maintenance screen (Ice.SysCompany table). The two screens share some fields and updating one of these shared fields in one screen will update the value in the other screen. I will create a new DMT Import for the Epicor Company Maintenance screen and include it in the August release of DMT.
@Arthur whilst you are engaged on this thread, is there a reason why you don’t sort the menu items in DMT alphabetically? Things get added to the bottom of the list, and it’s messy to try and find things sometimes.
My view is to leave the Migration menu as is, that’s obviously a newer feature and is already organised well. I would vote to arrange the “Management” menus all by alpha sort.
Am I the only one who uses the delightful search capability to find the DMT programs? I almost never visually search unless the name is strange like “TE…” for Time and Expense Entry. Once I learned it, I search for it. It’s like Command Search in E10.
