We have a separate company (same ownership) that supplies raw material
to us. Our demand generates a sales order to them and a PO for the
parent company.
The order must be shipped on the supplying company, and received on the
parent company. The demands of the parent company are not visible
to the supplying company, even tho each company is using vantage (set up
as separate companies). Users must switch to the other company
to view and maintain the other company records.
Question: does multi-site management lessen the need for all of the
care and feeding of the above scenario?

Subject: vantage 6.1 crystal connected thru odbc to access
Hi to all,
I have been trying to create a crystal report connecting to access thru
odbc. The report I am writing uses a subreport. The problem I am having
is very strange. I will format the header and detail bands of the
subreport and save which results in a completely different layout.
Am I dealing with a known gotcha?
This is taking far too much time.
Thanks,

Wondering if anyone out there is doing this and HOW are you attempting to
gather the statistics?
I don't want to use the Vendor Shipping performance because it averages
everything out and doesn't give me a true picture of what is going on.
As always, any help is appreciated.

We are doing this using the following criteria and tracking with an excel
spreadsheet.
Vendor Metric
Assign point value for quality or delivery non-conformance.
Quality - Monthly % rejects 0-1% - .25 points
Monthly %
rejects 1-2% - .50 points
Monthly %
rejects > 2% - 1 point
Delivery - 1 day late - .25 points
2 days late - .5 poins
3 + days late - 1 point
Corrective Action 2-3 Weeks - .5 points
Requests - 3+ Weeks - .5 points per day
Point total of 4 during a 12 month period will initiate a warning letter to
the vendor. Point total of 6 during a 12 month period could terminate
purchases from vendor.
Hope this helps.

Although we don't use Product Groups, Vantage works in the following
manner with respect to product costs:
1. Pack Slip creation: DEBIT A/R Clearing Account CREDIT
Inventory
2. Invoice creation: DEBIT COGS CREDIT
A/R Clearing Account
The A/R clearing account only serves the purpose to ensure all pack
slipped goods have been invoiced/posted (when I review the Inventory/WIP
Reconcilation report at month-end, I make sure that the debits = credits
in the A/R Clearing account). I have a feeling that you are using your
"A/R Trade" account number as your "A/R Clearing" account number in your
configuration setup.
I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks!

Sometimes (Not Always) when we create a sales order with the proper
product groups then ship the inventory the cost hits AR Trade instead of
the correct G/L account which is set up in the product group. But then
when we invoice this shipment, the cost moves from AR Trade to the
correct G/L account. Does anyone know what causes this?
I am truly stumped.

When linking the table, you need to select the little checkbox in the right
hand corner that says "Save Password".
You will also need to run Epicors ODBC kit to setup ODBC before you try to
link the tables.

What is the document association line for opening an Adobe Acrobat PDF file?

Thanks. I could swear thats what we started out with but it would not work.
Must have been some small difference because now it does. We are doing all
our CAD prints in PDF on the part revisions so this will be very useful.
Thanks again.

Left outer join link the RMA to InvcHead table using the RMA number (and
company). Test for ? in the filter on InvcHead.RMAnum (no record found for
that RMA) and these will be your uncredited RMA's. I think.

Subject: [6.1] Report Builder - Who never clocked in Yesterday
I am trying to build a report showing who never clocked in at all yesterday.
I can't believe how hard I am making this. I am looking for any clues if
anyone has tried this. There is a report in the files section for
Absenteeism but it shows anyone who didn't work their full shift not who
never got here at all.
I have tried to do a left outer join between EmpBasic and LaborHed.
Sorted to only active employees and the payroll date.
My theory being if you are an active employee and you are not in laborhed
(for that date) it would fill you in with a ?. No record existed for you in
laborhed on that day because you never clocked in. Then I could filter for
the ?s. Nope.
Anybody have any ideas? I feel really stupid here but not too stupid to not
ask for help.
Thanks in advance,
JM

I took a stab at this once but don't recall if it worked right. Here is
what I did:
1. Link EmpBasic to LaborHed (LOJ) (filter only on company and active
employees)
2. Sort on EmpNum then LaborHead Sequence
2. Pre-pass aggregate for Max Labor Head Sequence number
3. Condition band line to print employees where:
IIF(LaborHedSeq = EmpMaxLaborSeq and ClockOutTime > 0 ,Yes,No)
***this means LAST head sequence was a clock OUT not an IN - if OUT they
are not here
This particular report shows who is not now here. I think maybe it would
still work if you addtionally filtered <= date and added a date test in the
line print condition for max labor head date not that date.

We currently do not track tooling cost to a job within Vantage. Could
anybody doing this provide some feedback as to how it is working for
you?
The easiest way I can see to do this within Vantage's job structure
would be to setup a single material line (Tooling), manage the
inventory, and issue tooling against that line. The downside is it is
going to create more processing for our tool crib.

We do a line item on the sales order for tooling (either billable or non

Subject: Data Collection / Labor Reporting
Please Help!
We just started using shop floor data collection terminals. We have
been running into this when we do not have set-up or production times
entered into a operation. When a person is clocked into that
operation for 8 hours we look into the job and no labor time is put
against that operation. We have a lot of time and material jobs and I
was wondering what I can do to collect labor time into these jobs,
without having to put time estimates in for all operations for time
and material jobs? Am I missing something?
