I guess more specifically I should say that when I tried to convert the
drivers it gave me the error:
Error opening file.
There are no fields in the file: "Invchead.dbf"
I redirected the path of the tables to my local vntgwrk51 directory but
still no luck. Am I correct in doing this?

Hey everyone!
I'm trying to put our current Vantage invoice into Crystal Enterprise so
that way a user can pull it up in Crystal Enterprise and export it into
Excel or Word. For some reason when I try to convert the drivers into ODBC
instead of XBASE (vantage standard) it does not save with the ODBC drivers.
Has anyone run into this before?
Thanks!

Mark:
Yes, this server should be more than adequate in my opinion and yes, boards
today are a lot easier to upgrade (i.e. Processor, Memory, Harddrive).
One thing to keep in mind though, Windows.NET Sever is coming out early next
year from what I am hearing, or at least soon. Not sure if they are keeping
that name yet or not, but that's what I am calling it.
Windows.NET server will have a lot of "cool new things" to play with. Such
as File Shadowing, which is basically a network recycle bin which doesn't
delete files on the server completely until told otherwise. It also "states"
that terminal services on it (if you ever decide to use something such as
this) is "50% faster on the new Server OS than it was on Windows 2000
Server".
There are supposedly a ton of other things as well, so you may want to
research that a bit and see if you want to wait for this new Server OS or
just stick with the Windows 2000 Server. Personally, we are kind of waiting
for a new server once everyone starts offering the new Windows.NET
preinstalled on them.
I'm just saying this cause it really stinks when you buy something and the
next day they release something newer and better.

I was after some feed back from others that might be in a similar situation.
I am in the situation where we are expanding with an additional workshop
that will be completed mid December. The facility has a proper floor to
ceiling rack, something I not a custom to coming from our basic background.
I currently have approximately 45 odd PC on the network and Run Vantage 5.1
on an IBM x220 sever with twin 866 CPU's and about 500mb of ram and twin 18
gb drives that are mirrored. I have a gigabyte network card running into a
couple of Intel switches. The server is only really used for Vantage and the
storage of Office documents, excel Access and Cad drawing and thing are
going pretty good. The second server is the old vantage server a netfinity
5000 that runs basically exchange 5.5.
I thought with the new facility (about 200 meter away linked by fiber) and
Vantage 5.2 would be the perfect time to buy a new server. I was looking at
a IBM x350 rack mounted server running twin 1.4 cpu's and 1 gig of ram and
raid 1 + 0 using 5 18 gig drives. 2 for mirroring and 3 for striping. The
server is only going to be used for Vantage and file storage like the one
before. I expect to have 30 Full Vantage users to grow to 40 and Data
collection from 15 to 25. I was going to running a gigabyte network card.
So in a nut shell will the server have enough grunt to handle everything and
still have some room for upgradablity like more ram and maybe 2 more
CPU's??. Oh..BTW I was going to run server 2000 on the new X350
Can people give me some feedback on their server size to help me deside. I
read the Vantage sizing guide but I think it a bit out of touch with the
real world.
