We have a need to set aside inventory quantity by year for a specific customer group. This means that we would tag quantity X of part Y so that as orders come in, if the customer is in the specified customer group, they would be guaranteed that item if there is still >0 in the designated quantity. Is there anything built into Epicor Kinetic that would accomplish this? Or close enough to it that we could apply minimal customizations?
We are unable to create specific locations for these parts, due to space constraints. Using a separate plant would get messy for visibility, as we could have orders fulfilling from multiple plants which are actually physically the same space and completed by the same shipping team.
You could create part YY which has a BOM of part Y, so when the sales order comes in for part YY then create a job for this qty and process the job (either backflush or manually issue etc)??
You might want to look at the Planning Contracts module. Had a similar requirement on a past project. Planning contracts uses a specified bin for the “guaranteed” inventory, although that doesn’t mean you can have this bin in the same physical location as another bin. As the customer orders the part, and you fulfill from the bin, it draws down how much you have committed to them.
Depending on how much process change you want to tolerate, you could:
institute Lot Tracking for this part number (if you also use this part for other things that might get complicated); or
create a separate part number (for instance, just add a “-X” or something as a suffix) and Lot Track the new part number (with your Lot Numbers being the year
