Hi. I just wondered if anyone else uses Demand Entry and has the Customer Lead Time actions setup?
I tested the Customer settings (one at a time) as follows with Action set to ‘Warning’ at the beginning of the year when I raised a case with Epicor and am still in communication regarding this but thought I’d reach out to see if anyone on here used the same and can explain what I am missing. Thanks in advance.
Test Results:
Lead Time: Add Set as 10
Log Text: LeadTimeAdd - Line 3 Schedule 403: The Demand Ship By Date of 06/12/2022 is less than today’s date of 05/01/2023. and Triggered by tracy.smith
Lead Time: Change Set as 10
No Log Text
Lead Time: Cancel Set as 10

Lead Time: New Line Set as 10

Lead Time: Quantity Change Set as 10 (Changed Demand Schedule Qty from 20 to 25)

Lead Time: Date Change Set as 10 (Changed Ship By for 06/12 to 12/12)

I have not used this much myself, but I did ask Gary Robinson (who used to be the EDI guy at Epicor) about this, and here was what he said about how it SHOULD work - not sure if this is what you need though.
On the Epicor Customer Setup/Demand/Lead-Time Configuration, there are six (6) choices in the
upper-right of the screen that all are checking a requested change to a variable value, which need
checked against the individually-configured Lead Times in the Customer/Demand screen.
• SCHEDULE-LEVEL CHANGES
o Add – Should Epicor accept requests to add a new demand schedule, if the time to reach
the ship/needby date for the new schedule is less than the Lead Time ?
Value entered controls the minimum lead time that is acceptable for a new
schedule.
o Change – Should Epicor accept change requests for an existing demand schedule, IF THE
CHANGE WAS RECEIVED WITHIN A TIME-WINDOW THAT IS SHORTER THAN THE
LEAD-TIME FOR THAT ITEM ? (NOTE: this is not the same as just changes to Dates,
mentioned below….instead, it’s intended to be a check for ANY change received within a
too-short time-window.)
Value entered controls the minimum amount of lead time that is acceptable for
any change to an existing schedule….not just Dates, Quantities, etc.
o Cancel – Should Epicor accept cancellation requests for an existing demand schedule, if that cancellation was received with a short time window before the expected
Ship/NeedBy Date ?
Value entered controls the minimum amount of lead time that is acceptable for a
change to an existing schedule ahead of a currently-planned date.
o Quantity Change – Should Epicor accept quantity change requests for an existing demand
schedule, if that change was received within a time window that’s shorter than the Lead
Time ?
Value entered controls the minimum amount of lead time that is acceptable for a
change in Quantity ahead of a currently-planned date.
o Date Change – Should Epicor accept Ship By or Need By date change requests for an
existing demand schedule if that change causes a time window that’s shorter than the
Lead Time ?
Value entered controls the minimum amount of lead time that is acceptable for a
change in an existing currently-planned date.
• DETAIL-LEVEL CHANGE
o New Line – Should E9 accept a request to add a new order line to an existing demand
order if the Ship/NeedBy date is within a time window that’s shorter than the Lead Time?
Value entered controls the minimum amount of lead time that is acceptable for
the addition of a new Detail Line.
Example: The New Line (Lead Time) value is five days. You add a line to a
demand record that begins shipping quantities four days from now. Because this
date falls inside the defined date range, the Epicor application causes either a
Stop or a Warning to occur.
Thank you so much for responding. The information you provided is how I expected it should work but I can’t get the Warning to occur for anything other than ‘Add’ and this is where I am unsure on any other settings, etc that I should check
Hi. After 5 months we did get clarification from Epicor that even though it didn’t advise in the Help, the Technical Reference Guide mentions that you must use Demand Matching (we don’t). I will try and find the guide again and send a link in reply to the email you sent me
