My company decided to register all suppliers in the accounting department. So, I want to delete all the Supplier Maintenance menus in various sections except for the one in Financial Mgt. However, these menus are not deleted from Menu Maintenance.
How can I remove those menus?
Thanks in advance!
Don’t delete them - you’ll want to disable them. However, the screenshot showed this as a “System Menu”, and you can’t modify those.
Likely, you’re going to need to click Actions - Copy to Current Company. That basically makes the menu ID in your own company - and it’s now modifiable. Then, uncheck “Enabled”.
Agreed. Never delete.
If anything, come up with your own menu structure and use DMT to update when you upgrade in the future. (The menu items come back when you upgrade)
Disabling them will make them not appear. You’ll need to log out and back in again.
Also, when you “Copy to Current Company”, if you look at the Ice.Menu table, you’ll see two entries there for the same menu ID. One will be the System Flagged menu item (which you can’t/shouldn’t change). The company code on that will be blank. The other will be the one you created, SystemFlag will be off, and you’ll see your Company Code there. Also, when you FIRST do the “Create to Current Company”, you MIGHT see two entries there. Don’t worry about it.
If you close Menu Maintenance and get back in - you’ll only see your modified menu.
You will NEVER see this on your menu twice. Epicor is smart enough to know that your modified Menu ID trumps the system flag menu ID, and it uses your Modified menu ID.
If you’re questioning whether you’ll still see Supplier Entry in Menu Maintenance - of course you will - even if it’s disabled. You need to see it if you ever decide to re-enable it. However, it will not be on the menus where you disabled it (after you log out and back in).
We do this by creating functional groups and assigning access to them. Accounting Mgmt, Accounting Clerk, Accounting Readonly for example. Same with Purchasing, Production, Sales, etc. Mgmt groups get the Setup menu, Clerks get the General Ops, and ReadOnly groups get the Reports menu. Users are then put into the groups they need.
You could try setting the menus you don’t want people to see as “Security Manager”. Just check the box in the security group (ID) setup. You’ll need to use a different security ID for the 1 screen you want people to see.
You will see it twice if you change the menu ID (which is something you might be used to when copying a menu to a new menu for multiple instances of the same menu item). Don’t change the menu ID. Leave it alone when you copy to current company.
