Default Buyer on New Parts

Hi,
We have had a request from our Purchasing team if any new Purchase Parts created could have a default buyer assigned to them. Is this possible to do? I was thinking it would have to be some sort of BPM.

Buyer assignment has a hiearchy:

  1. there is a default buyer for the company
  2. each PartClass can have a default. If set, then this “Wins”
  3. each Part Site (PartPlant) record has an option Buyer… if set, then this “wins”.

I typically like doing this by PartClass because it makes maintenance easier. if a buyer is changing, then you only have a few part classes to change… but if you do it at the part site level, you could have 100s or 1000s of records to change.

But the ANSWER to your question… YES, you could have a buyer assigned to the Part Site record for each new record created using a BPM… BUT again, I would fall back to the Default buyer at the company or the Part Class.
