Data Collection - Employees Currently Clocked In

The new one works completely different and is designed to only run
independent of the Vantage Main Menu. There are several new features that
cannot be done if the program is being run from within the Vantage Main
Menu. The old one looks exactly like the old one and is primarily there for
3 reasons:
1) Office user clock in/out.
2) Engineering Clock in/out of design jobs/operations. This activity is not
generally believed to need materials issued to it, etc.
3) Assist in allowing a smoother transition between versions (staggered
training, etc.).

FYI: The old Data Collection screen will still be included in the Vantage
Main Menu for use by office people, etc. It will not, however, contain the
material request/movement functionality that the AMM module brings

Greg, thanks for this info. My users complained about this when we went to
5.0 and I just figured we had to live with it. I will look into more now.
On the subject of the DC screen and being able to see who is clocked in - I
don't know how many people got involved in the 5.1 early access, but they
are changing this completely. Unless they decided to change back, the list
of who is clocked in is gone in 5.1. I complained loudly to Mark Pladson
and he said they would look into bringing it back. Have not heard anything
since. Also, DC is tied in with the Advanced Material module and available
only to a shop floor user menu. All of my office users will have to open
another session (and a user) or go to a DC station to clock in/out. I
complained even louder to Mark about this. I got a little support from Joe
Konecny on this one, but no one else. Mark didn't think this could be
changed. For those that like the current DC screen, be prepared. I think I
am going to have a lot of unhappy folks.

This is a pretty easy fix. It was caused by allowing 4 digit years to be
displayed without adding 2 digits more space to the window.

There is a startup parameter that is used by the DC module to set the
display to 2 digit years. Fix this and the minutes will return.

I looked at my notes. It looks like I edited vantage.pf and removed the
yr4def parameter from the startup command line. I think it's in the
\vantage\db directory.

My screen displays the date as mm/dd/yyyy and the time is pushed off the
edge of the screen. I can see 07:2. This has been this way since I went to
version 5 in May. Any one else have this issue. It is system wide so it's
doesn't appear to be a client setting.

I am also having this issue with data collection. Makes it very difficult to
see when employees actually punched in at a glance.

Ahh, good to know. I saw that added in the startup.pf file and wondered
what it did. Here's the blurb from the 9.1 Startup Parameter Reference:

""Use Four Digit Year Default (-yr4def) to output a four-digit year from
the EXPORT,
MESSAGE and PUT UNFORMATTED statements that may use a two-digit year. This
option
causes all dates to use a four-digit year, regardless of what is specified
by the Century year
Offset (-yy) startup parameter.
If you do not use this parameter, the EXPORT, MESSAGE and PUT UNFORMATTED
statements produce a two-digit year for the date if it is within the 100
year period defined by the
Century Year Offset (-yy) startup parameter. If the date is outside of that
100 year period, these
statements produce a four-digit year for the date.
Using -yr4def will not affect statements such as DISPLAY, UPDATE and PUT
(without
UNFORMATTED), nor any default schema or program variable date formats,
which continue
to use the default format 99/99/99. These statements have the FORMAT phrase
where an
overriding date format may be given, if the 4-digit year is desired, or the
fields and variables
may be defined with the explicit 99/99/9999.
""

Sounds like a good thing to leave As Was.

Patrick,

We have it too. Also a problem similar to Joe Konecny's - DC users
intermittently lock up, I have to stop & restart the database to
release them.

have fun,
