I’m pretty sure I’ve asked this question before, but I can’t find where I did.
I’m trying to set a view rule in a dashboard;
When value x = some constant, then color whole row red.
Should be pretty simple. When I put the value in that I want to match, it works right after you save. But then, when you close and re-open it, it’s changed the value from the constant that I typed in to a field in the query. The field is called “overdue”. It’s a calculated field and I want to highlight the row red when the value = overdue.
So while messing around with ‘’ and “”, the dashboard will no longer open. Can I get into it somehow and remove the quotes so I can get to open? Or am I now doomed to start over?
That seems very odd. Do you have a backup of your DB with a working copy of the Dashboard? The only time I’ve had a dashboard get that FUBAR’d I pulled a copy from a backup.
As for the View Rule, I’ve not had to use quotes to denote a fixed constant before.
I just made it, so I haven’t backed it up (shame on me I guess)
It only seems to to it the rule value matches the name of the field. I supposed the programmer thinks it would be good to automagically change it if you typed in the same name. In practice, it’s dumb because I have a drop down of the field list anyways.
To get around it, I just made the condition starts with instead of equals and just left the last couple of letters off of the rule value. It’s annoying but it works I guess. Probably what I did last time too, I just don’t remember where I did it to go and compare.
If I get bored, I’ll recreate the problem and do some QA work for epicor.
