When you customized the report, did you set a default value for the GUID report parameter? I had problems when I used defaults for the parameters where they were not correctly updated to the actual GUID at report run time. I had to go to the report server (http://[SSRS_SERVER]/Reports) and find the report RDL files. I then went into the options/manage page for each and unchecked the “Default” option for the GUID parameters.

Hi Tyler,
Thank you so much for your info. I did not set a default value. Below is a screenshot of the settings.

It could be in one of the Sub-reports.

If the report has subreports, you will need check those as well as @ckrusen said.

Also, if you are generating the report to any format other than PDF you will need to check the extra RDLs that are automatically created. These will have the TableGuid parameter defaulted and don’t get updated correctly when you re-upload the report files.

Do you know exactly how these are “maintained” ??

If I make report MyTestRpt.rdl, and then run it from E10 with outpout format of Excel, SSRS creates a rdl file named MyTestRpt_ExcelDataOnly.rdl

(It really doesn’t create a file, but rather the database entry for one)

And if I change MyTestRpt it seems that MyTestRpt_ExcelDataOnly gets updated to match the changes. I’ve never had to go into the _ExcelDataOnly version of a file. In fact, If I thought it was incorrect, I’d just delete it and let SSRS recreate it by running the report in Excel output mode.

The only time I’ve had to manually adjust anything about the _ExcelDataOnly versions are when I notice I left a default parameter and I start getting the errors Ben posted. And even then, I only use the Manage page on the Report Server web portal.

If I had to guess, I would say SSRS compares the version of the main RDL with the version of the _ExcelDataOnly file and regenerates it if there’s been an update to the actual RDL itself, excluding any property changes done in Report Server.

You can also try setting the Archive Period when running the report to something more than 0 days to see if the database is purging the data before SSRS has a chance to process it. I doubt this is happening, but it’s good to cover all bases.
