We are upgrading from 10.2.3 to Kinetic and are in the testing process. Several of our custom reports are not functioning in Kinetic Pilot and from what I can gather, some RDDs have changed (they have fields in Kinetic that they did not have in E10).
I’ve searched the forums and it looks like I can update my custom reports to include the new fields. I generally use “Generate for Design” in the Action menu of a report to open the report to modify. I notice in Kinetic Pilot that is not available…
So my question is…how can I update the custom reports we have in E10 that are breaking in Kinetic Pilot due to changes in RDDs?
(p.s. I’m just an accountant who dabbles in reports so I hope this all makes sense)
Hello, Krista. I, very generally speaking, would probably just install the client and use the ‘Classic’ interface to resolve the issues in a manner that sounds like it was familiar to you.
1st question is did you get those reports working in Kinetic Test ?
2nd question is what method did you use to transfer the reports from Kinetic Test to Kinetic Pilot?
I found a couple of reports on the finance side that broke for us, 1 example being AR invoice form, were there’s it’s actually an entirely new RDD, in E10 it’s ARForm were as in Kinetic is ARInvoice or something along those lines
Ridgea and Mark, we have tried using the solution workbench to generate a CAB file out of E10 and them apply it to Kinetic. We secondly tried downloading and uploading the SSRS report in the “Report Style” screen.
Both seem to result in the same problem that we believe is related to a change in the underlying report data definition.
If there is an issue with it opening with the Kinetic interface, you can turn off Kinetic at the company level using Kinetic Application Maintenance or turn it off for an individual user by using Tools->Options->General->Forms To Use and force into Classic view. Then, customize it in the new version, create and export the solution and you will be ready to import it into live.
which downloads your “fixed” versions from your Kinetic Instance. Note all three elements are in the .cab:
On upgrade events (test or launch), make a note to install these .cab files into your freshly upgraded instance. We do the same for fixed BPMs and Customizations for classic screens moving into Kinetic.
@Guru232 There is an issue with making a solution from just styles over 1000 that will include the OLD system RDD and then import it over the NEW system RDD, so be careful if you are doing automatic overwrite.
Here is a KB that basically says solution workbench is for version to same version.
Digging deeper, our custom report also uses a custom RDD and the standard report works fine. I do not think that we have corrupted the original RDD.
I was able to resolve the issue but copying the original RDD for the form, and making the changes needed for our custom report. This allowed the report to run correctly.
It would appear that Epicor’s method for using the solution workbench only really works if there have not been changes to the original RDD, that apparently break anything with a custom RDD.
Ahh fairs, I had the same issue with RMAForm, I ended up taking a copy of the report style in Kinetic and styled the SSRS thereafter. The majority of my custom SSRS stuff uplifted no problems but I did find one thing to keep an eye out for is if there are any changes where the base styles RDD is different between versions.
