Crystal Reports question

I hope this is a simple question for a Crystal Guru. I'm using the Quote
form from Vantage with only minor cosmetic changes. I want the section
called " Page Header f " to start the second page instead of starting to
print on the bottom of the first page. I thought I could just specify "New
Page Before" under section formatting but I don't get that option. Is that
because it's a page header section? What am I missing?

Greg:

Do you want the section "PHf" to start on page 2 because it's being broken apart and you want the whole thing on page 2? Why would the header print on the bottom of page 1? The default form has no "PHf", so is your layout radically different?

I'm asking all this to try and give you a simple solution.

Rick,

O.K. - I took another look at this. Yes - "PHf " is being broken apart and
that's why I want it to start on page 2. After reading what you said, I
revisited the standard Vantage quoteform. You're right, it does not have
that many PH sections...the one that's "PHf "on mine is "GH1b "on the
standard form. I think things got screwed up when I went to version 4.0
and verified the database in Crystal. I'm even having trouble starting over
with Vantage's standard form. It does not want to verify within Crystal
properly and some of the print previews look like packing slips. It's
starting to look like I'm going to have to go back to square one but I'm not
even sure how.

If you want, I can email directly to you my original and cutomized versions of the quotation form. The custom is in CR v8 however.

Please advise...

I am trying to use a custom AP check form that prints the invoices being
paid on each stub of a 3 part laser check. It prints perfectly from Crystal
listing the invoices paid on each stub. In Vantage, I changed the default AP
check to the new file but when I print the check in Vantage, no detail is
printed on the stubs. Am I missing a step?

Also, when paying a vendor for 20 invoices, is there a way to print a
certain number of invoices on the first check stub, void the check, and
continue printing the remaining invoices on the next check stub, then print
the check?

Thank you in advance for any help,

Could the first check be the "live" one and the subsequent pages have the
check voided? This would be a lot easier since you would always have at
least one check. Page numbers greater than 1 would be the trigger for
conditional printing of a voided statement across the other check(s).

Troy,
I am using an AP form that was e-mailed to me from the group so I don't know
if it is from scratch. I suspect the reason that the check does not print
the detail in Vantage is that something is not connecting properly. I am
fairly new to Crystal Reports and just don't know what to look for. I will
try starting from the original form. Thanks for your input.

Thanks to Todd also for the tip on voiding checks when the detail uses more
than one check stub.

You might be able to use the structure of the report you received from the group, but you need to make sure you are connect with the correct tables that Vantage exports during the running of the report. Starting with the original APForm and then bringing in the subreports or whatever will help insure that things will work smoothly. The linking from the main report to any subreports is pretty key, so don't forget to double-check those.

Here is the problem, I am editing the quote form and need to add one
full page of sales conditions to the end to the form. I only want the
sales condition on this page and nothing else. Does anyone know how I
can do this?

Thanks in advance!
In the design tab, if you right click on the section you placed the sales
conditions, a window will pop up. Check the "new page before" and "new page
after".

I have this formula that looks at a field and prints out a text if the criteria is true.

if {bolhead.FRTCHRGS} = 'PREPAID' then 'X' else ' '

The bolhead.FRTCHRGS field is a string field. When I try to run this, I get this error:

'The formula result must be a boolean'

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks,

Jasper

When we print out our PO's we sometimes have issues with the amount of verbage on it. We usually place material requirements in the header comments field.

This causes problems because if it gets really long and we are unable to print it.

Is there a way to setup the crystal report so that a second page ALWAYS prints with the PO that has the comments on it?

Thanks,
Jasper

Have you thought about printing your comments in the Report Footer?
This could force a new page and could print even after the totals.

Yes it is. You just have to specify "New Page Before" in the section
expert. Also remember, there can be multiple sections in the report
footer.

Yes,
Go into design view, right click on report footer, then format section
and then check the box next to "force new page before".

Have you thought about printing your comments in the Report Footer?
This could force a new page and could print even after the totals.

I noticed that when we put the comments in the footer, it comes out blank. Any idea why?

Thanks,
Jasper

Yes,
Go into design view, right click on report footer, then format section
and then check the box next to "force new page before".

What version of Vantage and Crystal Reports are you using? I don't think it
makes a difference; just asking.

I am not sure why you are having the problem either. I tried it just to
make sure what we were telling you is correct and indeed does work. I did
the following:

I added a section below the current report footer.

I opened the section expert and checked the "force new page before" for that
section.

I then drug the Order Comments into that section.

I printed the report and the comments did print on a new page following the
current report footer as expected.

The report I was using was a customization of the Vantage SOA with our
company logo added to it. Not much else on the report was customized.

There is one requirement for this: it does require that the SOA only be run
for a single order. If you have a special customization that can print
multiple orders then it will not work correctly. I do have one such
customization. This would require a totally different approach since the
report itself would consist of many orders of which only the comments for
the last order would print.
