Crystal reports for a BOM

We have been having issues with Vantage locking up as well, every once
in a while. Users can view data but upon saving, vantage hangs. If
you let it go, it will be locked up for 30 min and then the record is
released and all the users who tried to save while it was locked will
now save. I wrote my own BOM report using SQL procedures and then
feeding the result to Crystal. We have had a call open with Vantage
since October and still haven't been able to determine what the issue
is. Another note, while records are locked, MES still operates just
fine.

Is this is issue that you are having as well?

We have created a new pick slip, and set it as the default in Vantage.
When we try to go print it, we get the error below. Now the original
pick ticket was 8.5" x 11" and the new one is 8.5" x 14". Would that
be the cause of the problem? Is there somewhere to change the page size
in Vantage? Is this an Epicor Tech Support Question?

This printer is a network share. If we print this pick slip from
Crystal, it prints fine. We cannot preview or print it from Vantage,
though.

Good Morning Everyone,

Has anyone seen a diagram which shows how all of the tables are related
in Epicor? I know you can go into the software and see the keys and the
tables that relate to a specific table but I am looking for a diagram.
I can believe that Epicor would not have this for their vantage product.

Can any please help me with this!

Dale,

I created a crystal BOM report by using multiple instances of the BOM
file and other related files, and daisy chaining them together. In other
words by relating the child from one instance to the parent of the next
instance. This works very well going down 7 levels deep, not sure if it
will work going any deeper.

Subject: [Vantage] Epicor table relationships

Good Morning Everyone,

Has anyone seen a diagram which shows how all of the tables are related
in Epicor? I know you can go into the software and see the keys and the
tables that relate to a specific table but I am looking for a diagram.
I can believe that Epicor would not have this for their vantage product.

Can any please help me with this!

You can create your own version of this using the Data Dictionary Report and
selecting Table Relationships and selecting the tables you wish to view. It
is still there in v6.1, not sure about v8.

Yes, the relationships report is still there.

Hmm, I wonder if one could do something similar with Visio that this gent did?

Don't have Visio or I would try...

It would be nice to have a Visio diagram. It's so much easier to get the concepts when you view how it is working.

Dale,

I created a crystal BOM report by using multiple instances of the BOM
file and other related files, and daisy chaining them together. In other
words by relating the child from one instance to the parent of the next
instance. This works very well going down 7 levels deep, not sure if it
will work going any deeper.

Good Morning Everyone,

We are trying to create a crystal BOM report. It does not look like
any of the bom reports are crystal reports. Has anyone created a
crystal BOM report and if so how?

Thanks!

Early on in our implementation (8.03.305K at present), I also asked
about getting just such a schema...was told that none existed outside
of the Development team @ Epicor. Given any 'spare time', I'd sure
like to build one.....using the relationships in the Data dictionary..

I did try to build one a while back using the Visio Reverse feature and
ODBC. It did work but was such a huge file and the formatting was so
messy I just tossed the thought aside. I just tried it again a moment
ago using the Job related tables and it did extract all the tables and
field names in a nice Entity Relationship Model format. It did not link
the tables but does provide table data with index information. I suspect
to accomplish this for the entire database would take some serious
efforts.

I used Visio 2003 Professional if you are interested.

In 6.1 ou can ODBC into the tables used for the in built Data
dictionary.
They all start with SYSPROGRESS_
this is a full list of table.
and fields within tables.
Though i have not tried to generate a full relational diagram
I would thing that looking at the number of table and fields it
would be hard to understand.
that i did produce was an alphabetic list of all field names and the
tables they occur in.
and an access query to search for the same thing.
these let me find my way into relationships i ares of the Db i have
not explored. And when i have found tabel anmes i use the data
dictionary. I guess i could improve my access Query to did out the
Data dictionary text but life is too short, use the pre built tool.

hope this is of some use.
