Crystal Reports - Error

Juliet,
One other thing to try -- When adding text to some of the Vantage forms, I've had trouble with them not printing at all (especially on dot matrix printers). What Seagate had me do as a workaround it to put the text into a formula, and then put the formula where you want the text to appear. That seemed to work for me.

By the way, I think the whole purpose for the sidlabls table is for multi-language support. I'm not sure what issues it brings to your situation.

Subject: [Vantage] Crystal Reports - Error

I am afraid that I don't use Crystal Reports very much and have run into
a problem that I can't seem to solve. I am hoping someone out there can
help me. Our purchasing manager wanted a line of text added to the PO
Form. I did that by just adding a label. Now my problem is this. If
someone prints a PO it prints fine. If they do a mass print the get the
following error: "Error in file links. Warning: Fields in the report
from the file "sidlabls" cannot be linked."

Why are they linked when we print a single PO and not when we do a mass
print of POs? I go into the report to "fix" this but everything "looks"
fine. Can anyone help me solve this?

TIA,

Juliet

The reason you are getting this error is because when you print a single PO
you have already gathered the PO Header and PO Detail files using Vantage to
locate data in both databases prior to printing. When you do a mass PO
print you are using the linkÂ’s you established within Crystal Reports. You
need to check the order in which you have the two files in Crystal, which
fields you are linking on and the type of join you are using. This should
work.

Had something like this last week. Check the version (right click on the
file and select Properties) for crpe32.dll on your PC and also in
...\vantage\dll on the server. If your PC has 8.0 or newer and the server
7.x you may want to copy the file from your PC to the server. Then try
printing from Vantage. Also, if you are using Crystal 8.5 make sure to
install the patch because strange things do happen to the PO's on Crystal
8.5 without it.

A few things to try:
* Run the "Verify Database" option in Crystal.
* Check the Sidlabls join in the Visual Linking screen. There should be a
single link from Poheader.PONum -> Sidlabls.PONum
* Stop Vantage then delete everything from \VntgWork. Make sure there are
no stray SIDLABLS files out there. Try rerunning it.

Which version of Vantage / Crystal are you running. If you're on 4 & 7, I
can take a look at your form if you email it here.
