I posted a thread on this a few weeks ago.
If you are taking the upgrade (lower cost) approach to move from Crystal
V8.0, you are expected to but the upgrade to V9, and then buy a downgrade to
V8.5 for an additional $25.00.
Version 9 uses Unicode and does not have any ability to save to earlier
versions, similarly V8.5 only saves as 8.5 or back to 7, not 8!
Confusing isn't it!!

atleast 8.5 installed for Crystal Reports. So 9.0 should work.
