CRM Setup & Thoughts - E9

We use CRM for sales and support.  We have customised it somewhat to give us a more Clientele setup (HDCase in E9 = Call in e7 and CRM Call in E9 = Event in e7).. We have been using it for over 12 months now and now our Consulting team are starting to use Cases for projects as well.

I would agree there are better products in the market, however if you already have the license attempting to sell something like Salesforce integration to your management may be a tough one.

The other thing you could consider from an Outlook connectivity perspective is Information Worker, that allows you to do things like pushing tasks and Contacts into Outlook.  We have it, but have not really used it much.

From the emailing perspective you can, with customisation or with BAMs and BPMs add emailing integration (I would suggest to go the BPM route from an upgrade perspective).

Epicor Service Connect can also do some fancy automation, but requires a fair bit of effort to get complicated workflows working.

Hello,

Is anyone willing to discuss the setup and their thoughts on the CRM module in E9?

If so- jhoward@... or 262-548-8890

Thank you!

Julie

It's fine if you don't actually need a CRM.

They now offer a Salesforce sync tool but I'm not sure what the cost is.  You can read the docs on EpicWeb (you'll need an EpicWeb account)

John
If you add it after your company is set up and been working with E9...you will have an issue with configuration. I spent 2.5 days with support trying to get it working. The end result was a simple 5 minute workaround...

Ditto…  Tested it, as we were initially looking for an integrated system.  No advanced email or mail merge capabilities (you can export a list of contacts as a txt/csv file and then use in a 3rd party package), can’t record emails directly to contacts or record sent emails to contacts to keep track of communication, etc. There are other things that don’t work well, but overall if your users already have a full-fledged CRM and like it, such as SalesForce, SalesLogix, MS CRM, etc.  This module is not for you.

Regards,

Sigfredo.

Julie,
It depends on your business and what you want to get out of CRM. Epicor CRM is fine if you have mostly inside sales reps, know all of your customers and don't do a lot of prospecting. Because all of the information is in one system it makes it easy to look up information about your customers check on order status, place reorders, etc.

If you have a larger sales staff, want to monitor their activity, track pipeline and opportunity status you might want to look at pure CRM solutions like Sales Force, Dynamics CRM, Sugar, etc. Epicor 9 can track opportunities and the pipeline but it is very basic and time consuming. Sales activity tracking can be done as well but you need to build dashboards to monitor the activity and outlook integration is weak.

I'd be happy to discuss more offline if you are interested.

Hi Brian

We just hired Outside Sales, we have been able to track current customers very easily, but honestly we use Outlook for the majority of what we do.

We have not done the basic set-up for the CRM.

I am unsure of how in depth  the tasks and milestones should be to ensure a smooth flow if the outlook is not able to link properly

Do you have any suggestions?

What information did you have to pull for the dashboards for tracking?

as I am interested in getting information to our Sales, but would also like to be able to monitor the Sales team as well

Best Regards

Julie

I'm about to do just that and hope to avoid 2.5 days with support. What was the simple workaround?

Greg

Support was actually a big help with CRM setup. Just make sure you are not talking to a support rep from the U.S. Because they are less willing to help in most cases.
