I am running 8.03.403d. Our CFO wants to go from Lot based costing to Standard costing. I can load standards using the costing workbench, but is there a good way to change the cost basis? From what i am seeing I will have to remove all stock change cost basis than put stock back in. I am hoping there is a trick I am missing.

thanks,

Adam
Unfortunately, you are not missing anything. You are correct that you need to remove all stock, change cost basis then put stock back in. The only way to avoid this being a manual process is if you are on SQL.

You can do a mass update on the DB. We did this at our location. It created
a few issues here and there, but nothing too major. As long as your
financial folks are astute, it shouldn't be earth shattering.

You don't need SQL for this. If you want to do it, let me know and I can
send you some code to change it.

I'd be curious as to what your updates were, I'm considering switching a large amount of our parts manually from standard based to average based, and would be interested in knowing what issues you ran into and what table you needed to modify so I don't miss any.

We basically just change the costing method on the part table and that was
that. I don't recall the particular issues we ran into. If I'm correct, it
was mostly minor accounting issues.
