Cost Roll-ups in ver. 6.10.541

We've seen some cost roll-ups that weren't right after rolling them
several times without doing a fresh "get parts". Rule of thumb now is
before we post, we do a fresh get, roll, make any manual changes we
need, run reports, verify data and then post.

Has anyone experienced any adverse results after doing Cost Roll-ups in
version 6.10?
I'm told that the last time we did a roll-up and 'posted', it caused
major problems with the inventory valuation and impacted the bills of
materials.

Thanks,
Bill J.

If you are using standard costing, the roll up is to calculate costs from
the components (material, labor and overhead) from the bills of materials.
The roll up applies changes from the boms such as more or different
components labor or burden. I use standard costing for our manufactured
parts, but average costing for the purchased components. So periodically I
run the cost roll up on all standard costed parts because as vendor prices
for components increase, it obviously affects the standard/expected cost of
the finished manufactured parts. The cost roll up populates each bom cost
and any standard costed parts on hand to the new cost to manufacture. That
is likely why you are seeing a change in inventory valuation.
