Cost Roll Ups Blank Title 56635

That has been the trade off. In order to keep navigation simple, I
would still move the 6.1 database up, just as a read only state.

Did you start Vantage on 8.803 or did you import 6.1 data? If you've
imported 6.1 data, the whole structure of the BOM costing is changed and
does not convert well. i.e. the costing is off. With the 8.xx testing

Are you amortizing your setup costs with the Lot Costing Qty in the
PartPlant
record? Did you check the box that says to use Lot Size Costing?

Sounds like were exactly in the same boat. I you haven't learned about
these yet, here are some other things that I've found:
Price Breaks in 6.1 become price lists in 8.x and do not convert either. We
have over 5000 of them so this is sticking point #2 after our 9000 BOMs.
BAQs do not convert well either - losing report builder, I thought I'd
convert as many of those in use today to BAQs beforehand, but of course that
plan will not work.
Unable so far to run a testing scenario completely from quote to cash, I too
am leery of what lurks around the corner.
And you're right, it is an excellent opportunity to clean house. The tough
part of that is rallying the staff to accomplish the task.

Struggling with the same decision we have discussed following the same plan
as when we began Vantage ' '98. That was to keep our old system running for
reference as long as necessary - in this case it would be 6.1 running along
side of 8.0.

does not convert well. i.e. the costing is off. With the 8.xx testing
I've
done in the last two years, I've determined that if I import 6.1 data, I
will need to rebuild all my BOMs from the ground up. Knowing that,
starting
a fresh database instead of importing 6.1 data doesn't seem quite a
distasteful as originally thought.

Are you amortizing your setup costs with the Lot Costing Qty in the
PartPlant
record? Did you check the box that says to use Lot Size Costing?

What I was referring to is price breaks for parts sold to customers. Being
a manufacturing plant, of course most of those are manufactured - but could
be applied to either. In 6.1, the way it works (for example) is you can
attach a quantity price break so that when an order is entered it will
ignore the price in the part master and use the prices assigned in the price
break master file. That can be specific to the part number, irrespective of
the customer; or it can be assigned to a part number, but only for select
customers. Those are the two set ups we use now. There is also in 6.1
(which I don't really have a need for) is to associate breaks with customer
groups and/or Product groups. I'm not sure yet how they work in 8.x.

Price lists on purchased or manufactured parts?

Sounds like were exactly in the same boat. I you haven't learned about
these yet, here are some other things that I've found:
Price Breaks in 6.1 become price lists in 8.x and do not convert either.
We
have over 5000 of them so this is sticking point #2 after our 9000 BOMs.
BAQs do not convert well either - losing report builder, I thought I'd
convert as many of those in use today to BAQs beforehand, but of course
that
plan will not work.
Unable so far to run a testing scenario completely from quote to cash, I
too
am leery of what lurks around the corner.
And you're right, it is an excellent opportunity to clean house. The
tough
part of that is rallying the staff to accomplish the task.

This has been THE sticking point for our movement to 8.03. I am
starting to think starting fresh is not so bad either. We have run into
other issues with the conversions which were painful to get through. It
makes me wonder how many more of these unknowns might crop up. Then
there is the advantage of getting rid of all the old junk (unused part
numbers, mis-configurations, old unused workcenters & machines, etc.
etc.. etc..)

We came from 6.0 and we've rebuilt our BOM's. All of our converted
rates have been phased out and were working with new resource groups.
Plus the estimates are correct on production detail reports.

Did you start Vantage on 8.803 or did you import 6.1 data? If you've
imported 6.1 data, the whole structure of the BOM costing is changed and
does not convert well. i.e. the costing is off. With the 8.xx testing

Wouldn't it be possible to export your historical data and create simple web
pages to display it as needed? In dashboards, you can add a web component and
set the URL. If you wanted the purchase history from the old system, why not
call a web page that displays in a dashboard?

Food for thought.
