Cost Adjustment - past update

Our cost roll process starts with an update to standard costs for purchased parts using a cost adjustment DMT. Once that is complete, we perform the roll up and post process in Costing Workbench. I usually perform the cost roll because the Finance team doesn’t have access to the DMT tool for security reasons. However, they have been asking if there’s another way such that they could do a cost roll themselves (and I’m happy to let them have it!).

I know you can use “paste update” in the list view of Cost Adjustment, but having never done this before, I’m concerned about the scale of the process. We typically update costs for ~6,500 purchased parts via DMT before using Costing Workbench to roll up and post. Will the paste update process handle that volume of parts or are we likely to encounter problems?

I have a pilot DB that I could use to test this out if needed, but thought I’d first check here for any wisdom before doing all the work to run the test.

Give them DMT - you can only do the same things in DMT that you can do in the full client, so security isn’t a concern.

It does allow you to make more mistakes, and make them quicker that’s all!
