Hi all,

Can someone point me in the right direction to copy our
production 'mfgsys' database to a testing database?

It is a new install, so we have no real data to worry about, I just
need to ahve a test db so we're not 'learning' in our production db,
or the training db.

I can copy the SQL DB, and create a new db in progress.. just don't
know how to get the schema created to link the two..

Thanks,

Matt
There is a file in the mfgsys61 directory (toward the bottom) that will
explain everything in detail.

It's a text file called mfgbkup.txt

Matt,

There is a command to copy the database from one location to another. I
only used it once when updating from 5.1 to 5.2. My suggestion is to
create your test database in Progress Explorer, use the back up
generated on line to restore the live database into the test database.
You will find out that it is good to have all of the above done from the
beginning because you are going to needed. You need on-line back ups and
you will need a restore to test whenever they ask you to "renew" the
data.

The command is procopy source target. Provide a complete physical path.
Stop the database before using the command. I will consult with Epicor
prior to do either one.
