Closing Fiscal Period then Reopening it, Good idea or not?

Our year end figures aren't back from the accountants yet but our
controller would like to close the year so she can start entering new
balances for the current year. Her question is...can she close the
period then reopen it to enter the new figures from the accountants?

controller would like to close the year so she can start entering new
balances for the current year. Her question is...can she close the
period then reopen it to enter the new figures from the accountants?
Anyone...care to answer...

I do almost every year and never had a problem. I have reopened the last
period of a FY and posted entries after I have closed the first 2 months of
the new year.
