Client Updates for Vantage 8

We also run our desktops allowing only user authority for desktop users.
We were able to get around the update problem by granting users write
access to the c:\client80 and c:\vntgwrk.

-----Original Message-----
Maybe I did not explain my problem correctly. In order for the client
software on the PC to get the updated files from the server the user
must have Administrator authority because as a standard user the update
to the client fails. I just do not want to go to 50 client PC's and
logon as the Administrattor to apply the update that the server is
pushing out.
I am looking for some help. We have just applied an update from
Vantage 8.00.809C to 8.00.810C. Most of my clients have only standard
user rights on their computers. When one of these users attempts to
logon for the first time after the server update they receive an error
message: "AutoUpdate routine is either missing or out of date and it
could not be replaced from the deployment server." This message
prevents the client from being updated from the server. The only way
that I can update the client is to logon as Administrator and it works
fine. Does anyone know a way around this error?

Thank for your help.

Go to your client folder and find mfgsys.default in the config
subdirectory

If you edit the mfgsys.default file you may find that the version Value
already states 8.00.810C

Change this back to 8.00.809C

Save it

Relog back into the client

It should then reapply the client update

You should then be able to log in

You can open up the security on the clientfolder directory for
read/write access with group policy?

Thanks Gary, I will give that a try.
