Client/System Monitor Freezing

Ever since the recent upgrade to 2022.2 I have had a number of users (5-6 out of about 13) complain about their Epicor client freezing on login. It seems to happen mostly to certain users, but there is no commonality about it that I can figure out. If I go to that user’s machine and log in in my name it seems to work fine. The user goes to a different PC and logs in fine most of the time. This has happened in the past but nowhere near as a often.
We are SaaS multi-tenant, all users on Win10 x64.

Anyone experience this or have any recommendations? A re-install was tried on a couple users and didn’t seem to change anything.

There might be clues in the event log on the user’s machine.

Checked that, nothing in there for Epicor. Plus since it froze I assume it wouldn’t be able to write the log.

Is it only on log in or is it while they are using it randomly freezes?

It might not be an Epicor event, when I have had problems like this its usually something about CLSID or .net framework error. I don’t know if its the same but reviewing anything that shows up under administrative events at the time of the crash is probably relevant.

Just part way through logging in. The log in screen will disappear and the main menu screen will appear, but the ‘thinking mouse’ will spin forever. The system monitor never appears in the task bar. But they are logged in enough to be consuming a license.

For these users, they can log in successfully on other computers. However Ryan and I are able to log in just fine on their computers. In addition, if I log in to my account on their computer, they can use the switch user function to log into their account just fine. Not only that, but they don’t even have the problem every single day. Occasionally there will be a day they can log in fine. But most days they cannot. There doesn’t appear to be any other signs of network issues.

Reinstalling the client or deleting the cache folder doesn’t seem to help.

See I have this error for one person but it’s always in the middle of a session and I cannot replicate it.

We had an issue with logon throwing an error, but switch user worked and the fix was to remove the users company(s) and add them back. I can’t find the EpicCare KB to reference.
