I'm having a lot of problems with Vantage 5.0 on my NT-4 Terminal
server running CITRIX metaframe version 1.8.
I followed the instructions that Vantage tech support sent to me in
regards to running Vantage 5.0 on a terminal server. I loaded the
Progress software local on the Terminal server as instructed, and
pointed to the database file on my Vantage server. I had to create
special "ini" and "vtg" files which I did.
Sometimes Vantage will run and other (most) times it won't. If a user
clicks on the Vantage Icon and gets the splash screen briefly, then
they will be ok. A few seconds later they will get the log in screen.
But if, when they click on the icon they get just the "hourglass", or
if the "splash screen" stays on, then I have trouble. The CITRIX
server is brought down to it's knees. The processor utilization is
pegged out at 100% and the offending application is
always "Vantage.exe" (not prowin32.exe).
Vantage tech support clains that this is a network issue and not a
Vantage issue, but I have my doubts. I am (by their request)tweaking
port settings on my switches (changing them to half duplex)but that
seems to have no effect at all. I was running Vantage 3.0 on this
server for 18 months without any issues prior to upgrading to 5.0.
I would appreciate any help at all. This one really has me baffled.
