Chrome - Kinetic - Default pdf viewer

We’re on Kinetic browser.

Does anyone know how I can force Chrome to always open our PDF reports from Kinetic in Adobe Acrobat Reader?

  • Some reports will always open in Acrobat.
  • Some will always open in a new Chrome Tab.
  • Some never open until I open the notifications tab.
  • Some will rarely open in Adobe Acrobat.

Can’t seem to find any pattern.

I already have it set in Windows to Adobe Acrobat:

But Chrome seems to ignore this and will choose a new tab:

In Firefox, I can force it in Application settings:

Firefox is a little more consistent now and I’d use it as the default but the little bugs that only exist in Firefox are too annoying to deal with :sob:

Well all I can say that acrobat is an invasive piece of software that plays havoc… For me now rather than just right clicking on a pdf and downloading to my downloads folder, acrobat just decides to open automatically… or from time to time it will open in a chrome tab and in edge at the same time… On window 11… Never seem to have that problem on 10.

I know that’s not much help, but… feeling your pain.

There’s really only one setting I’ve found in Chrome you could play with and test (and it is BURIED)!

Chrome > 3-dot > Settings > Privacy and Security > Site Settings > Additional Content Settings > PDF documents

… may help a little. Why some seem to dowload automatically and others require going into the notifications to download… still can’t figure that one out.

Perfect thanks both for the tips!

I’ve messed with that setting, and for my problem it didn’t help perhaps I need to restart afterwards or something…

The only reason I have it is that it’s easy to get those pesky excel spreadsheets out of the release notes.
