Changing Vantage Colors

Is there a way to do a global change on that in the vantage.ini file?

Along with changing the company name on the test database you can
change on each machine the favorites background color. Just right
click in the favorites area and go to properties and change the color.

Jasper,

Can't help you on that but what I ended up doing was changing the company
name in the test database.

Something like "******* TEST DATABASE ******" ...

The company name shows in the title bar.

The easy way I did it was: go to menu structure maint. and change the name
vantage to ----TRAINING-VANTAGE and I changed the live one to VANTAGE-LIVE

This is WAY out on a limb but since it is a test database anyway....

The table UserFile has settings for each user's color preferences in that database. You (or someone a lot more skilled at this than me anyway) might be able to make some sort of .p routine to spin thru all the users and set the four color codes to the same value. You might have to periodically run if users are prone to making changes or run once after each refresh of the test database. I suspect you could refresh the test database, log in to it and then run the .p from the command window and change that particular DB. Or then again maybe I am way off base ont his.

Just an idea anyway.
-Todd C.

PS - If that someone "more skilled than I" can really do such a .p routine I would love to have a copy. Probably a good candidate for the download area.

A method I use is copying the "Vantage.ini" file and give it your test
database name, and point to it in your "test.vtg" file instead of
"vantage.ini" in line 4. When you open the ini file for editing, it advises
you against changing the first 15 colors (and I haven't tried changing those
yet), but I've modified some of 16 through 31 as follows (trial and error
using windows color codes for "red,green,blue"):

color16=0,0,255
color17=164,200,240
color18=255,0,255
color19=255,255,255
color20=255,255,255
color21=255,0,0
color22=0,255,255
color23=0,0,0
color24=0,255,0
color25=0,128,192
color26=0,0,255
color27=255,0,255
color28=255,255,0
color29=255,0,0
color30=255,255,255
color31=255,255,0

These changes so far ony make the input fields white text on a red
background. Also, when you open the test database, select "default colors"
in the "options, change colors" pull down menu.

Just tested this and it does work. Seems I can change the settings to the
userfile outside of Vantage and have them take effect next time I log it.
Also there is the setting to lock the users so that they can't change the
settings.
